Story
Lucas is an absolute love bug, he loves cuddling, sitting on your lap, and being center of attention. He loves racquet balls and any type of balls, he loves stuffed animals specially the ones with the squeaker. He is leash trained and has been since he was a puppy, however, he will still bark at everything and everyone. He needs to be the ONLY dog, we do have another dog, and they get along to a point, but tends to be aggressive towards him and wants to fight. Lucas does NOT do well with small children at all. We adopted him when my children were teenagers, so he has never been around little children until my grandbaby was born. My grandbaby is now 1 1/2 yrs. old and Lucas does not do well, he gets too scared, and his behavior is unpredictable. I am not willing to put my grandbaby in harm's way nor do I want to have Lucas be constantly anxious. Lucas does not do well with strangers; he is very frightened and takes a while to warm up to them. He is afraid of fireworks and the thunder.

Story
This is Cookie. He’s a 13 year old Jack Russell mix who loves to sleep and lounge. The days of high energy are mostly behind him but he still loves to play and run. He sustained an injury to one of his back legs when he was only 2 which hinders his ability to jump so he needs help getting onto high surfaces. I’ve had him since he was just a puppy and the last 13 years have been wonderful but due to unfortunate circumstances I have to find him a new home. He has a 9 year old brother named Puppy (also listed) which he’s bonded with so it would be ideal if they can be adopted together but not a must. He loves belly rubs and will stay close to you at all times. I’m hoping to find him an experienced adopter who can show him as much love as I have for the last 13 years.

Story
This pup was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. They will be able to go home after 4/1! Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2316647##

Story
Meet Suzi Q!  This sweet little mama is ready for her forever home! Suzi Q is a 3-year-old, 12 lb terrier mix who recently finished raising her seven adorable puppies. Now, it's her turn to be spoiled! Suzi is a happy, affectionate girl who loves being with her people. She enjoys cuddling, playing, and hanging out with her foster siblings. She’s doing well with potty training—she just needs a consistent schedule to stay on track. She’s also crate-trained and sleeps through the night without a peep! Suzi is still working on her leash skills, but she’s a smart girl and eager to learn. She does fine for short periods alone, especially with other dogs around, but she might need supervision at first—just in case a stray shoe looks too tempting! If you’re looking for a loving, playful companion, Suzi Q might be your perfect match! Apply to meet her at Trevorsanimalrescue.com by filling out the adoption application. ##2285285##

Story
Dobby's past wasn't great, but we are changing his future. He is recovering from a allergic flare up & his hair is growing back. He LOVES his foster family, but his mom is his favorite! He is dog & cat friendly, but he would love to be his momma's #1 guy. He has had some poor treatment from the children in his last home so he will not go to a home where young kids are.

Story
Reason for rehoming: Our foster daughter recently moved out after having her 1st child and can no longer take care of the dog she had when she came to us. We already have a senior dog who does not enjoy other dogs, so we are unable to provide him the time and love he needs. We would love to find him a loving, stable home with a yard, as he has a lot of energy! We want to be certain that he finds a happy, loving home. We are expecting multiple meet-and-greets to ensure a good fit. We are also asking that, if he is rehomed and it isn't working out, he be returned to us rather than a shelter. We love him, we're just not the right forever home for him. He needs leash training and some minor house-breaking. He is house trained but does some marking behaviors and pees when excited/nervous. We have been working with him on some protective behaviors and barking, but he does still need more training in those areas. Does okay with other dogs, just not well-socialized.
