I am so excited to be here in Canada!  I arrived in Vancouver from Lebanon in the fall of 2024 and have been having an amazing time living with my foster family.  I've had the pleasure of exploring parks, making other canine buddies, and discovering the joys of toys & cozy cuddles on couches and in bed.  This has been the ultimate upgrade from my previous life on the streets and shelters in Lebanon.  I was originally named Shade because of my dark fur, my foster Mom renamed me Sunny for my happy smile and zest for life.  Shilar is another one of my nicknames, which holds the connotations of peaceful and calm-- I'm a big cuddle buddy, but my zoomies come out when I'm truly at ease and happy!  I am pretty adaptable, so whether you choose to name me Shilar, Shade, Sunny, or something new, I will greet you with my winning smile and endless affection! Sunny was rescued from one of the most dangerous areas in Lebanon, where he faced unthinkable challenges. Local kids threw rocks at him, and residents scared him away with gunfire when he sought safety near their homes. Alone and scared, he was discovered hiding under a car, separated from his littermates and mother. Rescuers brought Sunny to a foster home in Lebanon, where he received care, safety, and the chance to trust humans again. He also began to socialize with other dogs, showing his gentle and playful side. When Sunny arrived in Vancouver, he received a 5-star grooming session that revealed an untreated puncture wound. Thanks to prompt vet care, he healed quickly and emerged as the happy, loving dog he is today. Sunny is a delightful mix of calm and playful. He’s a big fan of cuddles, but when he’s truly at ease, his zoomies come out, showcasing his joyful spirit! He’s curious about squirrels and birds but mostly watches them disappear into the trees and sky. Sunny loves walks, running off-leash in fenced areas, and learning new things. Smart and eager to please, he’s ready to soak up all the love and knowledge his future family can share. Sunny’s Ideal HomeSunny would thrive in a home with a yard where he can run and explore. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, both big and small, and loves making new friends. If another dog doesn’t share his enthusiasm, he doesn’t quite understand but remains kindhearted. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. My name is Bryce, and I have quite the story to tell.   Breed: Alaskan MalamuteAge: 4 yearsGender: Male    Weight: 73 lbHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, rarely barks, no escape tendency I was found wondering the streets and ended up in a city pound as a stray. Despite having a microchip, no one came to claim me, and I was at risk of being euthanized. Thankfully, I was saved and brought to a shelter, but unfortunately, I've been there for over a year without finding a family to call my own. Living in Korea's hot and humid summers hasn't been easy for me as a Malamute. I'm really hoping to find a home where I can be comfortable and happy. I'm not shy at all when it comes to meeting new people. In fact, I love it when strangers pet me and give me belly rubs. I'm a big fan of scratches and don't mind being brushed. Just be prepared for some shedding! I get along well with other dogs, regardless of their size. I've been living with 30-40 dogs at the shelter, so I'm used to being around many furry friends. However, I haven't had the chance to meet a cat yet, so I'm not sure how I would react. I have a moderate energy level and enjoy outdoor activities. I walk well on a leash and am confident in urban environments. Sudden noises and car rides don't scare me at all. In fact, I absolutely love car rides and enjoy looking out the window, feeling the wind on my face. I want to assure you that I haven't shown any signs of aggression. However, I do have a little possessive behavior when it comes to certain things. Sometimes, I won't let go of something I have in my mouth. But don't worry, the shelter is working on this with me, and it's recommended to continue "leave it" training after adoption. I don't have separation anxiety and rarely bark. You won't have to worry about me trying to escape either. I am crate-trained, but I haven't been housetrained yet since I haven't had the chance to live in a home.
