Story
This 3-year-old Keeshond/Border Collie mix is so sweet and snuggly! Mishka, meaning "little bear", is the cutest, rollie-polliest dog ever. Currently 52 pounds (and working on shedding some extra weight), she enjoys the simple pleasures in life—cuddling, napping, playing in the snow, and giving kisses. Mishka is sure to make you smile, whether it’s her adorable butt sway when she walks (SO sassy), her habit of sleeping on her back like a person, or her comical attempts to sniff snow without getting it up her nose. Mishka has come a long way from her rough beginnings, and has blossomed into a total lovebug and the perfect couch companion. While initially quite nervous at her new foster home, she still loved cuddles and adjusted quite well to her new routine with a little extra love. She is house-trained and lets you know when she needs to go outside. She’s also crate-trained and can be convinced to settle in with the promise of a treat, staying calm and quiet once inside. While she’s a self-proclaimed couch potato, Mishka enjoys running around the yard and doesn’t require a lot of exercise beyond some outdoor playtime and occasional walks.Mishka is still working on her confidence and managing some separation anxiety. She prefers to be with her humans as much as possible, so she will follow you everywhere and gets a little noisy when left alone. We believe that her ideal home will be with a patient family that is home often, and she will require a home without shared walls (no apartments/townhomes) and will need a calm and confident resident dog to keep her company. She has experience living with other dogs, and she’s largely indifferent when she meets dogs outside the home. She will do best with slow introductions to new dog and cat friends. Mishka has a gentle personality that makes her great with kids, and she’s been wonderful with the children she’s met. Mishka is ready to be your devoted cuddle buddy and bring love into your life! Story
This 3-year-old female Keeshond is sassy and independent! Dagny, meaning “new day,” is a quirky girl will make you laugh with her little habits, especially when she hypes herself up with practice hops before tackling the stairs, or when she rolls on her back to scratch the places she can’t quite reach. This brave girl has come a long way since being rescued from an abandoned hoarding house. While Dagny is house-trained, it has been an adjustment for her to learn house rules and a new schedule. She’s crate-trained, but she's happy to let you know when she’s ready to come out. Dagny is highly vocal, barking to communicate her needs or excitement, so a home without shared walls is required (no apartments/townhomes). Currently weighing 60 pounds, Dagny is also on a weight-loss journey to help manage her arthritis and improve her overall health. Dagny is happiest on sniff walks, gnawing on nylabones, or lounging in the snow. She loves lounging on furniture, especially recliners, and has discovered the joys of toys and couch time in her foster home. While Dagny is well-behaved when left alone, she likes to keep her brain busy and does best with enrichment activities, so she can get into trouble if given the chance. A family who can give her daily short walks, enrichment activities to keep her mind active, and who has experience with spitz breeds and their personalities will be ideal. She gets along best with male dogs of similar or smaller size but may need slow introductions to ensure compatibility. Dagny hasn’t been tested with cats, and her interactions with children are still uncertain, so careful introductions in either case are recommended. While Dagny takes a little time to warm up to strangers, once she decides you’re her person, she will reveal her marshmallow-soft side!Dagny is ready for a fresh start in a forever home filled with patience, love, and understanding. If you’re looking for a spunky, independent companion who will warm your heart, Dagny is ready for you!If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450.
