Story
Ringo is our 5 year old labradoodle needing rehomed. We’ve had behavior issues with him and currently have an 8 month old getting ready to start crawling. He is very intelligent and aware. He has bitten and nipped at us in the past. So we do want to take any chances with our little one. He loves playing fetch, tug-a-war, and ear/butt scratches. The best way to describe him is similar to a cat. He wants to be messed with, on his own terms. He’ll come to you when he wants petted. He is touchy and snappy with his paws and if you catch him off guard with petting. He never wants to be touched or caught off guard while sleeping. However, he loves attention in other ways and loves visitors. He is healthy and up-to-date on all vaccines. He needs a home with no children and ideally no other dogs. He needs to be worked with and not over stimulated; unfortunately we cannot provide that for him any longer. Message me for details or questions!

Location: Decatur, IL Requirements: Secure PHYSICAL fenced yard Canine companion or mill dog experience Kurt is a shy boy that was once a breeder dog but saved from that life! He has early onset cataracts in one of his eyes and is sight impaired. Being a mill dog and not having sight makes the road for him a little more difficult, but he is learning to adjust. Kurt LOVES to snuggle and will just breathe a deep sigh of relief and melt in your arms. He is still learning how to be a dog but has initiated play with the foster's dog. This is a great sign and he would probably do best with having another confident dog in the home. If you do not have a dog then mill dog experience is required, as these dogs are a different challenge than a typical scared dog. Kurt mostly hangs out in quiet and less trafficked places, but is beginning to explore more. He probably would not be suitable in a home with young children. Kurt's adoption is $400. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps! PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!
