Story
*Medical Condition- PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO* Personality Traits: Protective, Curious, Independent, Funny, Dignified, Smart Wallaby (or Wally for short) was found wandering in a common dumping ground behind the Sweetwater Veterinary Hospital. A kind, Good Samaritan reached out to us for help with this guy! Wallaby is a happy, silly guy with lots of energy. Wallaby has shoulder dysplasia which can cause some pain near his neck/shoulder area. On 3 different occasions, Wally quickly nipped out of pain when his neck area was touched. His pain levels and medical condition are better controlled now with daily joint supplements and anti-inflammatory medicine as needed. However, because of this diagnosis, we feel he would do best in a home with older kids who will respect his space. He would also do best in a home where he is not confined into a small space for long periods of time (kennel) as this causes Wally more pain. He gets along well with dogs outside but can be a bit possessive inside the house if he has pent up energy or doesn’t get enough mental and physical stimulation. Wallaby is a high energy dog and since he is a poodle mix, he will require regular grooming and brushing! He will also require not only physical stimulation, but mental stimulation as well. This includes activities such as treat balls and puzzles, snuffle mats, hiking/walking at different, exciting places for new smells! He also looooooves to play fetch! He is in his happiest place when he is outside 🌳 🌲 Wally is also prone to hot spots and we will be getting more information on this from the vet! Neutered, Vaccinated, Microchipped

Story
immy is being fostered in PA. Jimmy is a special little guy, a 14 week old Mini Poodle, who was dealt a bad hand physically but nothing is stopping him from being happy and enjoying life. Jimmy is working on house breaking and coming along. We are starting to learn SIT and COME. He follows his foster Mommy all over and just loves to be with people and other pups to play with and snuggle. We call Jimmy a little goat because he likes to launch himself in the air at you or another pup. Jimmy is sight impaired, one eye did not develop and the other is smaller than normal but he does have enough sight to get around ok. Then there is his wee heart. Jimmy has two abnormalities and is being put on a beta-blocker to slow heart rate. Basically, there is a hole in the heart (VSD) and it is pushing blood through the right side into the lungs. Then, there is the pulmonic valve that is not opening enough to push blood to the lungs. So two abnormalities, but in a way working together: were one is not putting enough blood to lungs the other is putting blood to lungs. The cardiologist put Jimmy’s prognosis as guarded. He needs a re-check in 9 months to see where things stand. Possibly, at that time they can do a balloon procedure to open the valve. Also, there is a chance as he grows the hole could shrink but that is uncertain. As for Jimmy, don’t tell him he has any “issues”. He says, “I’m a puppy and I like to play with other dogs, run around chasing after my foster Mommy, and just have lots of fun. Life, bring it on”. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Zeus is a very affectionate dog with a lot of love to give. He loves nothing more than snuggling with his people on the couch. He knows basic commands including sit, stay, shake, and lay down. He typically does well on a leash but may need a little practice. He has some food aggression with other dogs but not with people. Zeus would do best in a home as an only dog or with a very submissive dog. He gets along well with cats. He doesn’t like screaming children or crying babies. Zeus has some anxiety from storms, fireworks and gun shots but does very well with taking an inexpensive prescription about an hour before storms begin. He also has some claustrophobia and doesn’t like to be locked in rooms by himself. He does well when he has open access to the house or is crated, but doesn’t like to be behind a closed door.
