Story
Hunter is a handsome middle- aged boy who was first in the shelter all the way back in 2020. He’s found himself back in the shelter after four years in a home and is hoping to find a new home soon! In his former home he did well with other dogs, was housebroken and crate trained, and was described as independent, affectionate, smart and a bit of a couch potato. He likes car rides and toys, knows ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and ‘down’ and was described as generally easygoing. Hunter has been social and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup and enjoyed independently exploring the play yard. He may need time to warm up to new people, so needs slow introductions to strangers in his future home. Continued crate training will be an excellent way to provide Hunter with a safe space of his own. Ask about Hunter today!

RESCUE ONLY DEADLINE 5PM MONDAY AUGUST 19, 2024Name: LuckyAnimal ID: A758826Age: 4 yearsWeight: 84.60 lbs. About: Lucky is a four-year-old black and white Lab mix who has had a tumultuous journey. She first arrived at the shelter when her owners could no longer care for her and surrendered her on October 14, 2021. During her time in that home, Lucky lived with three other dogs and a 13-year-old child. However, a tragic incident occurred when Lucky fatally injured the family’s Corgi/Dachshund mix. This led to her brief stay in the shelter, where she was eventually adopted on November 26, 2021.Unfortunately, Lucky`s story took another turn when her new owners were also unable to care for her. They handed Lucky over to a friend, who brought her to their Greyhound rescue. Lucky’s stay there lasted about a week before another unfortunate incident occurred. While the person caring for Lucky was feeding the dogs, one of the Greyhound approached Lucky’s bowl. A fight ensued, and the injuries sustained by the Greyhound were so severe that he had to be euthanized. Following this incident, Lucky was found tied to a fire hydrant. When an officer arrived on the scene, Lucky was very friendly, immediately jumping into the officer’s back seat, eager to go with them.In the shelter, Lucky has been easy to handle. When introduced to other dogs in a playgroup setting, she appeared uncomfortable and stiff but tolerated the other dogs approaching her. She mostly kept to herself, showing more interest in receiving attention from the handlers than interacting with the other dogs. Based on these observations, Lucky might do best as the only dog in a home. If she is to live with other dogs, a proper introduction is crucial, and she should not be around dogs smaller than her or be taken to dog parks. Feeding Lucky separately and picking up empty bowls immediately is important, as well as monitoring for any resource guarding of treats, toys, space, or people.Lucky is a sweet and affectionate dog who needs a stable and loving home, she will need to find placement through a partnered rescue group. While some rescue groups may consider long-term fostering, most are looking for permanent adopters. If you think your home would be a good fit for Lucky, you are encouraged to reach out to a rescue on your own to start their process and have them contact PACC. You must come to PACC before her 5 pm on Friday, August 16 deadline, to meet Lucky. If you are alrea

Story
Duke is a gentle senior citizen who is back in the shelter after a stay in foster- here’s what we learned:- Housebroken - Crate trained- Walks well on leash- Enjoys hiking- Affectionate- Knows tricks- Loves to be around people (needs slow intros to strangers)- Loves car rides - The BEST cuddle bug- Would love to find a family who is home with him often Duke is VERY popular at the shelter too- here’s what his friends have said:“Today I walked Duke and we worked on his leash skills. He loves to sniff and is very affectionate. Duke knows sit, stay, down, come, shake, away, touch, go to bed, go to mat…shall I go on?”“Today Duke and I had a great walk together. He has abundant curiosity and loves investigating various smells on his walk. Over the course of our short time out together, his leash manners improved rapidly once he got out that initial excitement. We had a pleasant walk together, enjoying the sunshine. He is a fun and cheerful little guy with a radiant smile.”“What a friendly and energetic pal! Duke was well-behaved and seems very responsive to his walker. We went to a play yard and practiced his tricks. He was so attentive and smart. We ended our time with a belly rub.”“I’ve been spending time with Duke since he returned to the shelter, and he is a very sweet, people-oriented boy. He does a good “sit” and “paw” and is very treat motivated. He enjoys being pet all over and makes good eye contact. The last time I had him out, he did some adorable army crawls then would roll over for belly rubs! This poor guy has had a rough time since he returned to the shelter, and really needs a patient and understanding forever home.”Duke is looking for a special home where he can be near his people as much as possible and can have a yard to run around in. He’s been appropriate and independent when meeting other dogs in playgroup and would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. He would also thrive as your one and only. Please ask to meet Duke today!
