Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello, my name is Romeo! I am big boy with a big and adventurous heart! I love to go out to the park and explore the fields and (my all time favorite), play in the water! I truly believe I was born to swim...I would swim all day if I was allowed to! I love to dive under to get rocks from the bottom of the creeks, and I love playing a good ole' game of fetch, too! I will retrieve anything you throw into the water! I am looking for a home with no kids or cats, however, I do get along with other dogs and enjoy their company! I would love a family who is very outdoorsy and adventurous just like me, and who has strong dog handling experience. I am a smart boy and I can't wait to show you everything that I know! Romeo's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip and current vaccinations plus a 6 week basic obedience course at Cedar Run in Hiawatha, IA. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives.  Our adoption process includes reference and vet checks, a background check and a home visit.  Please complete an adoption application for consideration at AdoptHope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 8:30 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Athena may be considered a senior dog, but don't tell her that - she certainly doesn't feel like a senior and she's only around 8 years old after all! This girl still enjoys playing, giving you a good workout on a leash and being an all around spitfire when the mood strikes her! She is a wonderful dog, with just a little gray in the muzzle : )   Athena has lived very easily with another dog that was around her size, but she would be great as an only pup, too.  She is unfortunately, not a match with cats as they bring out the "chase" in her!  She takes some daily prescription meds for mobility and will need to continue these long term, but a good walk every day is keeping her happy and healthy! Athena is seeking an owner that isn't gone long days, she'll enjoy your company too much to have you away after all!   Athena's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company #2 in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a vet history check as well as a home visit.  Please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website, www.Adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 8:30 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lyme + and Anaplasma + Hello my nam e  is Herkie! I am 12 year old yellow lab weighing around 60 pounds. I really like getting pets and attention from my humans and don't forget the walks, I really love walks!  I will thrive in a home by myself since I love getting all the pets or with another dog around my size or smaller that is non dominant and no cats please.  My two other favorite things to do in my foster home are napping and eating as I am very treat motivated. Since I am a foodie I should be fed separately in the home from others to help to avoid any extra stress and anxiety for me. I am currently working on building up trust with my foster family learning that they will come back since I have a fear of abandonment from my past. I am potty trained and am a good boy with a great mixture of being chill and wanting to relax with my humans and still have energy for walks.  I am crate trained but I free roam in the house when my foster family is gone.  My foster mom says I am a handsome boy with a great smile looking for a forever home to call mine.  I might be a senior dog but I have so much love to give and I really want my own family to love for the rest of my life so skip the crazy puppy stage and come see me!   Herkie's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and monthly preventatives. Herkie is seeking an indoor only home.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, kept current on vaccinations and preventatives and be altered.  Our adoption process includes a vet history check as well as a home visit, please submit an adoption application on our website if you would like to meet Herkie! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Charlie is the bestest boy, and someone is going to be darn lucky when they scoop him up! If you’re looking for a dog that is up for adventure, be that exploring the outdoors together or napping on the couch, he’s your man. If you’re looking for a dog that’s good with every person they meet, including kids, Charlie’s your man. If you’re looking for a dog that will bond quickly and that’s a smart pup who will pick up additional cues/commands with ease, well look no further!  This dog is a total package!  Charlie joined us in rescue and was in need of some TLC. He’d spent some time living in an outdoor kennel, and had a torn ACL in addition to Lyme disease. Charlie has gone through treatment, including surgery on his injured leg, and has come through with flying colors! He took surgery, cage rest and physical therapy like a champ and is now feeling better than ever and ready to get out and explore. Charlie is not a fan of being kenneled or left alone for long stretches, he had enough of that to last a lifetime so for this next chapter he’s looking to be someone’s full-time sidekick. Charlie is not a great match with other dogs or cats.  Charlie’s adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations, and monthly preventatives. Charlie is seeking an indoor home only, if you would like to meet him please submit an adoption application through our website, Adopthope.org. Last Hope requires that adopters have a history of having kept their pets as indoor pets only, altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you are looking for a dog that is equal parts adventure buddy and couch potato, Mango could be the guy for you!  Mango is around 2 years old, he's a yellow Labrador mix with one distinct feature - one soulful brown eye and one sparking blue eye!   Mango is a medium to large sized dog weighing around 55 pounds, he is dog friendly with those he has met around his size and has enjoyed getting out for walks with both volunteers and other dogs! We have briefly introduced Mango to cats and he was very interested in giving them lots of sniffs, we have a feeling he would chase kitties given the chance!   Mango is going to be best suited in an active home, he'll enjoy having a yard to romp and explore.  If there are children in your home, we feel that Mango might be best suited with dog savvy kids, we're told that he lived with younger teens/tweens before. He can be mouthy when he starts playing with toys, but he redirects very easily!  Mango already knows a few basic commands, but will be eager to learn more with your help as we find him to be a very intelligent guy!    Mango's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccines and monthly preventatives.  If you would like to meet Mango, please submit an adoption application on our website (adopthope.org). Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Alamo-man! He is everything Labrador sweet! He's a kisser, a hugger, a cuddler, a lover, and quite the great companion! Weighing in around 35-40 pounds at a year old, he's basically a miniature lab, and our vets are certain he won't be doing much more growing. Not much could be greater than him! His personality is everything, he's outgoing, social, and the biggest BABY ever! Alamo gets along with everyone, everything, and anything! Alamo knows the basics, has the most wonderful of puppy-dog demeanors. By far, his favorite thing to do is wiggle, waggle, and get into laps. As adorable as he is, he knows it, too! Always giving puppy dog eyes, or doing his launches onto laps like he's a tiny chihuahua. Plus, he's a HUGE fan of shaking around stuffies like it's his full-time job, and gnawing on bones like he just can't get enough. Bones are definitely one of his favorite things to have, and they keep him perfectly content when he's crated. So if you're looking for an EVERYTHING friendly, crate-trained, house-broken, he's PERFECT! We can't get enough of Alamo and his amazing personality here, he's a true joy to be around, ALWAYS prepared to make us giggle! My adoption fee is only $210! This fee covers all of my vaccines, microchip, nex/heartguard, heartworm test, AND my spay/neuter! Think I might be the perfect fit for your home? You can apply for me here https://animalwelfarefriends.org/adopt/application/ OR you can apply in person when you come visit me any day during business hours! You can even adopt me that same day once approved!! Please Note: All adoptions are on a first-come first served basis with approved adoption applicants. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
The lazy labby guy, Max, has his eyes set on the fine things in life. Love, cuddles, snuggles, and some more love! At about 5 years old he has hit that oh so perfect stage where dogs slow down, and enjoy being loved on, and loving on, a WHOLE lot more. Max weighs in at approximately 60 pounds, and while he may be a big boy, he's beyond gentle. Whether it's a short stroll through the park, or as he rests his head on your legs, giving out an almighty 'sighhhh' to let you know just how content he is. He's quite honestly that PERFECT dog. We believe Max will do amazingly in just about any home, as he's got such a calm, loving nature that makes him amazing around other dogs, big or small, and kids! His great behavior has led us to believe he is 100% house-broken, absolutely crate-trained, and 110% good boy. Max is the dog we go to when we just want to relax, give love, and snuggles with. That is unless he's romping the dog yard with the others, sniffing around, with his adorable tail sky high, wagging, and happy as can be. With Max's heart of gold, lower-medium energy, and great manners, we know he will really make anyone, a family, or a first-time dog owner very happy. My adoption fee is WAIVED! This fee covers all of my vaccines, microchip, nex/heartguard, heartworm test, AND my spay/neuter! Think I might be the perfect fit for your home? Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Harvard the big baby! Look at those puppy dog eyes, he is a little heart thief as adorable as he is, and that's without mentioning his AMAZING personality! Harvy prefers to spend his days lounging around, being a lazy dude, but he definitely never says no to some zoomies either! Harvy is a little shy around strangers so far, but another dog being present ALWAYS opens him up, as they bound around together. He's even working on his simple commands, like sit, down, and a recall; he has taken strides so far, we can only imagine how incredible he will be with his very own family! He LOVES chasing after toys, and quickly tearing off in the opposite direction, eager to be followed. He is beyond sweet, and at about 5 months old, and 20 pounds, he's a hambone. One would say that he is VERY treat-motivated, and that is an absolute plus. We can't get enough of Harvy and all of his snuggles, face kisses, and how he awkwardly swats with his paws when playing. We know he will do great in just about any loving home. My adoption fee is only $310! This fee covers all of my vaccines, microchip, nex/heartguard, heartworm test, AND my spay/neuter! Vienna, she is as sweet as can be, and as you can see, as cuddly as cuddly gets! She welcomes everyone, anyone, and anything with the invitation of belly rubs, kisses, and all the adorable ways she loves on everyone! ViVi is such a big baby, though, along with her lovable puppy curiosity, leading her to everyone with a wiggly butt, and wagging tail. Occasionally an attempted leap onto a lap, or the sofa, otherwise, she's just as content at your feet, getting the love she LOVES. We know Vivi will do amazing in just about any home due to her AMAZING disposition. Oh! Did I mention she's crate-trained, and learning her basics so quick!? She's a very smart little pup!
