Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** This is Gracie a sweet, mild mannered senior and certified super snuggler! Gracie is in foster care with the ECAS after her human had to go to a nursing home.  Gracie was born blind but we feel she can see shadows and has done a wonderful job navigating her new surroundings. In foster, Gracie has been enjoying outside exercise time, inside play time and lots of couch cuddling.  She has also been working on dropping a few excess pounds in an effort to gain back her girlish figure and maintain a healthy heart. Gracie is housetrained and has proven she doesn't require a kennel when left alone.  She rides nicely in a car but doesn't love it.  She can load and unload fine however she needs a little help with a boost for her rear end.  She walks well on lead and seems to love all she meets.  Gracie can manage a few steps in and out of the house but a whole flight of stairs does seem to be too tricky for her to manage. Gracie is vocal which is likely due to her keen sense of hearing and will let you know if someone or something is amiss outside.  She does have a foster brother and while she doesn't love sharing the love she understands it can't be all about her all the time.  Gracie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $200.00 Are you looking for a cuddle buddy?  This squishy 7 year old love bug might be just the right fit!     March 6, 2025, 6:54 pm

Name: Asa Age: Puppy / DOB: 5/25/24 Gender: male Breed: Shepherd/Labrador/Terrier mix Weight: 60 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: Testing Available upon request Child friendly: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: sweet, snuggly, docile, easygoing Requirement: Not apartment appropriate, but could be in a condo or duplex Adoption Fee: $450+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html About Me:  Heeeeello Internet! My name is Asa and I love to snuggle with my loved ones which includes both the furry or human types. I know I am a big boy but I love a cozy lap to snuggle on. I am learning new things in a nice cozy foster home. This is the first home I’ve ever lived in, if you can believe it. I was part of an “oopsie” litter; my siblings and I went right to the shelter when we were big enough. Due to this, I am working on building my confidence because I didn’t get to experience many of the things most pups do. I promise I’m a nice boy but new people and situations make me feel tender inside. I’m looking for a forever home that can give me grace, be patient with me and help me continue to gain confidence. Oh and did I mention how handsome I am?!  Not to toot my own horn but my coat coloring is truly one of a kind.  If you’d like to meet me in person, please fill out an application soon!   From the foster family: Asa has been an absolute joy to have in our home. I can always count on him to tire out our resident dogs (he LOVES to play with his canine companions) and warm my lap when he’s done.  Asa did take some time to come around and be comfortable here, and I’m sure he will when he goes to his forever home as well, but he’s worth the patience.  He is such a sweet pup… he has the kindest eyes and will melt your heart when he looks at you with admiration.  His future forever family will be so lucky!   March 17, 2025, 11:55 am

Name: Vanitee Age: Puppy / DOB: 11/23/24 Gender: female Breed: Labrador/Terrier mix Weight: 20 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes House trained: yes, on a puppy potty schedule(frequent bathroom breaks) Crate trained: yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: sweet, snuggly, docile, easygoing Requirement: Not apartment appropriate, but could be in a condo or duplex Adoption Fee: $550+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html About Me:  Hi!! I’m Vannie (aka Vanitee) At least that’s what my foster mom calls me. I’m still figuring that part out.  I’m a go-getter! Holy moly, have you seen the different toys there are?! My favorite ones are the wrapper scrunchies and squeakier ones… Okay, never mind; I don’t have a favorite. Anything I can carry around and squeak and wrestle is awesome!!  My foster mom   keeps telling me I’m the best girl and so pretty. I already know that  I think my best features are my ears and velvet skin.  I LOVE to play with my golden foster brother. He   and I wrestle and he helps me go outside to potty. Oh yeah, did I tell you I’m potty trained already?! Well, almost. My foster mom makes these bells in the door that make noise and I know it’s OUTSIDE time. She then says potty and I know what she means, but I have to sniff the air and watch my foster brother first, and then I potty and get a treat.  I’m also really good in my kennel. I’m quiet and walk right into my kennel when it’s time to eat, and while mom is working in her office.   I get super wiggly when mom takes her lunch break and I know I get time to play!  I sleep best when I sprawl out and belly up. It’s the best and so cozy next to my foster mom or dad.    I’m trying to learn how to come and sit. I promise I’ll get it. My parents are working hard on it and I’ll keep trying as long as they keep the treats coming.    Well, I don’t know what else to say other than I’m ready to see what other fun stuff this place can give me. Because you know I’m just a puppy, but life is amazing and I want to experience it with you!! Let’s go!!  Of Note, Vanitee's spay appointment is March 18th    February 27, 2025, 10:16 pm

Name: Agent Age: Puppy / DOB: 5//24/24 Gender: Male Breed: Shepherd/Labrador/Terrier mix Weight: 60 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: Testing available upon request Child friendly: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: Easy-going, affectionate, tender-spirited Requirement: Not apartment appropriate but could be in a condo or duplex Adoption Fee: $450+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family: Agent and his siblings were an owner surrender.  Mom looks to be the Lab/Terrier and Dad is unknown.  Agent is very kind and gentle.  He is shy at first but is coming up to me to get petted.  He is in my house with 4 other dogs and is doing great with them.  He knew the dog door from HASRA in AL. and went in and out to a big fenced-in backyard and ran and played with the other dogs.  He sleeps in the living room with the other dogs at night with no problems.  He is going to be a great family dog with a little training.  One of his siblings came up on the November transport and has been adopted out and the fosters say how wonderful she was.  Now the same fosters have her sister, Ainsley and another foster has his brother Asa.  If you are looking for a good family dog, Agent at just 8 months is a dog you should meet. About Me: Hello cold and snowy MN!!!!  My siblings and I had a 15 hr van ride to get here.  I love being in a home.  I have been at HASRA since I was a few months old.  They are so nice down there.  There are a lot of dogs to play with and my sibling and I just packed together and played all the time.  I am a little shy about meeting people.  I didn’t have a lot of interaction with people at HASRA, just a lot of dogs.  I am learning how to be a house dog and was even able to sleep on the loveseat the past 2 nights.  If you take a little patience with me, I will be a wonderful family dog to you.  Please fill out an application and let's meet.  Thanks.
