Story
Gordy is a fun loving, energetic lab mix, who loves affection. Gordys past living situation was outside, with many other dogs, and no vet care. Since Gordy has been rescued, he has been treated for mange, tick disease, and heartworms. He has made tremendous progress in his foster home, but is still very fearful of strangers. Gordy has a lot of personality, is a great communicator (you’ll always know exactly how he’s feeling), and plays well with other dogs, would also thrive as an only dog. Gordy gets very excited, so a home with small children or small animals will not work well for him. Gordy is about 60 pounds but thinks he is small and petite. He is neutered, walks well on a leash, knows some basic commands, and is completely house trained (those are great accomplishments in such a short time). Gordy lives for playtime and snuggling with his person, he does not like to be in a kennel. He will attach himself to the person he trusts, but this will take some time an effort to gain, but he is worth it! If you are looking for a lazy dog, he will not be the one for you. If you are looking for a best friend who adores you and is always ready to hang out, Gordy may be your perfect fit! We are NOT the shelter, we are Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pet Rescue (FJCASP) If interested in meeting this baby, you can find an online adoption application at https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/ Adoption fees covers spay/neuter, vaccinations, wormers and preventatives and range from $125-$150. Story
Looking for your next cuddle buddy? Well look no further than Reese! She has come so far from where she started and it’s her turn to thrive and be the best dog she can be! Reese is a 50 pound 1.5 year old lab mix that is a little timid at first due to her being in the shelter most of her short life which has led her to be unsure of her surroundings. Once she learns she can trust you, she opens up and her fun loving, happy little personality shines through! She opens her eyes each morning so excited and grateful to see your face again! She begins her day with nudges to wake you up and lots of kisses to show just how much she missed you through the night! Reese is potty trained, kennel trained, and knows all of the basic commands…sit, stay, lay, shake, etc… She’s a quick learner and is very easily motivated by treats! Reese loves to go on daily walks and will sit patiently and wait for you to put her leash on and give her the command to walk out of the front door! She loves playing with other dogs, big and small, and is curious about cats but keeps her distance. Reese loves to end her days snuggled in the bed with her favorite people while literally laying on top of you! She can’t seem to get close enough to show you just how much she loves you! Due to Reese’s scary start in the shelter, she would do best in a very patient, calm home preferably without children but would benefit from having another dog in the family! Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. All pets are in a home environment cared for by a foster person who provides temporary care until the pet can be placed in a permanent home. Story
Millie was picked up as a stray and had been at a local overcrowded shelter for three months. She is a 55 pound German shorthaired pointer mix which makes her have a unique appearance and lively personality. Millie is a larger dog with a sleek, muscular build typical of Pointers. She has a short, shiny coat that is mostly white with black patches. Her expressive brown eyes and floppy ears give her an endearing and approachable look. Millie is known for her playful and energetic nature. She loves to run and play. One of Millie’s most notable traits is her impressive fence-climbing ability. This talent first became apparent when she came to her foster home. Curious about the world beyond her yard, Millie will climb over the fence to explore the neighborhood. Her escapades led to many amusing incidents, such as surprising the neighbors by appearing in their yards. Millie will require a 6 foot fence to manage her adventurous spirit. Millie's daily routine includes morning runs, playtime at the dog park, and engaging activities like puzzle toys and obedience training. Despite her adventurous nature, Millie is well-behaved at home. She enjoys lounging in her favorite spot by the window, watching the world go by, and greeting visitors with enthusiastic tail wags. Millie is low heartworm positive and is on slow kill monthly prevention. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats.
