Story
Glenda is a shy, sweet girl that has been through so much in hopes of finding her forever home. She lived in the animal shelter for 14 months, where she was absolutely terrified of noise and people. She was very fortunate to be in a shelter that refused to give up on her until she could be adopted or rescued. After leaving the shelter, Glenda has been very brave while acclimating to new people and completing treatment for heartworms. She has blossomed so much while in her foster home. She can be timid with new people, but is always happy to politely take a treat from you! Glenda has learned to walk on the leash, knows basic commands, and is fully housetrained. She is a quick learner! Glenda is very friendly with other dogs and did well when introduced to cats. When she`s not snoozing on the couch or in her bed, she loves to roll in the grass, play with her dog friends, and play with toys. Please let this baby be part of your pack. It is time for her to have her forever home

Story
Finally ready for a new home! Hakuna Matata is roaring to go. Hakuna (for Short) has had a wild ride this year to get to this point. He was found on I 10 with multiple injuries including a broken leg that required a specialist to repair. Thanks to three Good Samaritans, one of whom became his foster mom, Hakuna was saved from being killed on the freeway. He was rushed to the vet and his foster mom, a SAVE volunteer, contacted us for help. Hakuna quickly became a clinic favorite while he recovered from his surgery with his friendly demeanor. All healed and now ready for his forever home, Hakuna has learned good house manners with his foster mom. He walks on a leash, knows sit and Kennel and is good with little kids and other dogs. He is a good boy in the house and sleeps in his kennel at night. He would love to come show you how fast he can run now and how much he loves to cuddle on the couch. Meet him at an adoption event soon.saverescue.org/adoptionapplication.

Story
Introducing.... Clooney! This sweet boy was rescued from a high volume shelter as soon as he was added to the euthanasia list after being there since last October. He is SUPER grateful to be out of there and loves everyone he meets. He is young, born around October 2020 and needs a home willing to continue his training. He is an active Flat Coated Retriever mix male who weighs around 55 pounds. He likes to sit in a lap and give hugs - sometimes it is a little too much:) He gets along well with other dogs. He is potty trained and is quickly learning basic obedience commands. Not recommended for homes with small children at this time since he is still learning not to jump up on people and might accidentally knock them over. If you are interested in him, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays at the Petco in Clear Lake as well. 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center. Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.November 3, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Hi, I'm Harrison, a very loving and sweet Lab mix.  I was found as a stray and have made it to SCP to help me find my forever home.  I love my people and want to stay close to them.  My favorite thing is being petted and having lots of snuggles on the couch.  At the home of the person who found me, I was with cats in that home, but they weren't very happy with a new dog living in their home, so it probably is dependent on the cat.  I am presently living with multiple other dogs and get along with them, but I can be pretty defensive (barks and snappy) on first meeting a new dog. A few minutes of walking around and sitting quietly near one another makes everything OK, but first introduction has to be managed. I can be an escape artist so I will need a securely fenced yard, a 6-7 foot fence and a gate that I can't open.  I'm house trained and have free roam on the house.  I do eat in my crate and will sometimes go into it to chill but pretty much I just want to be near my people or in my favorite chair.  No kids at my foster home but I've been friendly with all the kids I've met so far.  I'm pretty good on a leash, but will pull if I get distracted by a squirrel or other critter.  My dream home would be with an active family who will take me on long walks or hikes, but when not out getting exercise, I'm happy just being part of the family either with or without another doggie friend.  My foster says I'm such a good boy, my new family will be very lucky to have me as part of the family. If you are interested in me, please send an email to us! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review!
