Story
Here comes Joe, a moderately active 4-year old yellow lab mix, who at 75 pounds loves to go on walks and explore the world around him. He walks gently on the leash, but also enjoys freedom in a yard where he can explore on his own. He's been known to jump lower fences, so a 6-foot fence would be required. Joe is deaf and will need to learn hand signals to know what you expect of him, but that should be easy as he is a people pleaser and very attentive to his humans. He's a goofy, happy dog that will bring smiles and joy to any family that is looking for a loyal, lovable companion. All dogs available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and are current on all vaccinations. Additionally, adopters have 30 days of free access to 1-on-1 text and email support from trainers at Petcademy to help make every pet's transition into their new home as smooth as possible. Please email dogs@henricohumane.org for more information.

Story
Stella is the love of my life! She’s the perfect dog. We got her from family as a puppy. I raised her and love her so so much. She is now 3 years old. Although we love her so much, she is not getting the life she deserves. With a new baby and full time jobs, we don’t have the time or energy to put towards her. This is breaking our hearts but she deserves better. She will be great in a home with people who can play with her and give her attention. If you have other dogs, that’s a huge plus. Stella loves other dogs!

LUIGI**1 YEAR OLD LAB MIX**55 POUND MALE**COURTESY LISTING** LUIGI IS BEING FOSTERED IN THE RICHMOND VA AREA. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN LUIGI, PLEASE GO TO Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond (labrescue-richmond.com) AND COMPLETE AN APPLICATION. From his current foster: 1 year old • Black Mix • 55lbs Dog friendly • Dog-savvy cat friendly (fostered with a cat but will chase cats outside the home) Adult only home Medium energy Luigi loves to start his mornings off by giving you kisses, and then a lengthy walk followed by breakfast time! After that, he's ready for a nice looonnngggg nap. He's an angel during the day while his foster parents work and loves to lay at their feet if they are working from home. If they go into the office, he's a true gentleman while they're away and doesn't mess with anything! In the afternoons and evenings, Luigi is ecstatic for more walks, playtime with doggy friends, or yard play. Once tuckered out from exercising, he adores snuggling right up on his human for TV time and enjoys helping you taste test that popcorn! For bedtime, Luigi either sleeps in the bed with his foster parents or sleeps on a dog bed next to his foster mama. During the day you can find him napping in his crate or on the sofa. Luigi has grown up with all sorts of big dogs and enjoys playing most with Pitties, Great Danes, Mastiffs, Cane Corsos, Shepherds, etc - he gets so excited to see his friends for playdates! Some of Luigi's favorite toys are Benebones, he has a stuffed elephant he loves, Chuckit! Kick Fetch ball, he is learning how to catch a frisbee, crinkly BARK toys, a stuffed Kong, and a good 'ol fashioned stick! Luigi is quirky about feeding time. He likes to be away from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen, people, and other dogs, and enjoys a quiet, private room where he can savor his food at his own pace. He either eats off a snuffle mat, a lickmat, or is scatter fed. Luigi is super thrilled about car rides and jumps right in, ready to hit the road! He enjoys hanging his head out the window to catch the breeze. If you are interested in Luigi, please go to Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond (labrescue-richmond.com) and complete an application. **COURTESY LISTING**

NEVA**4 YEAR OLD BLACK LAB MIX**61 POUND FEMALE**COURTESY LISTING** -Age 4 (DOB 5/20/2020) , 61 lbs. -Lab mix (possibly lab-pit) -Adopted from Staunton , VA SPCA at 8 weeks old. -Spayed If you are interested in Neva, please go to www.momsva.org and complete an application. From her current owner: -Fully house broken and she doesn't have accidents in the house. She is up to date with her vaccines, etc. Takes Credilio and Interceptor, hemp calming vitamins as needed and trazodone as needed. -Temperament: Excited, happy, wants to love you, initially nervous, takes time to warm up, loves. I noticed the onset of anxiety after losing her house, the cat that she lived with and loved, ex husband leaving the home, moving to a new place with no yard or her previous neighbor dog friends.Neva has 2 or more walks a day but used to be able to run with neighbor dogs daily in her previous home. Not aggressive but nervous with new people, she warms up and then wants to be best friends and kisses you whenever she gets a chance. She loves hugs after warming up. She'll bark at anyone outside the front door. Anxiety with loud noises- scared of thunderstorms- she'll find a tight spot to squeeze into to feel safe and secure. Shows food guarding and guarding me, her owner at times. She barks at young children and seems to be scared/nervous of them. She has never bit anyone but I would exercise caution around children and toddlers as I do not know what she would do if left unsupervised. -She sleeps most of the day. She is not (normally) fed table food. She eats 2x per day, morning and evening and loves treats. -She was crate trained when she was younger, but we do not crate her now. She is very smart, knows certain items and names of people and several commands. She does have a stubborn streak but she responds well to a firm voice followed by the word "now" when you want her to do something. She's easy to train because she's very food-driven. She's completed a training class as a puppy with "Dog Training by Valerie" - Neva likes to play with tennis balls and she loves chicken and peanut butter. -She enjoys being outside. I'm looking for a home that gives her the ability to run freely. And we feel that having a playmate will make her happy. I feel she likes dogs more than people. She grew up with a cat so that would be fine for her. Please contact Raina at rainajstlouis@gmail.com with any questions about Neva. If you think you are a match for Neva, please go to www.momsva.org and complete an application. **COURTESY LISTING**

Story
Introducing Bike is Short for Bichael (yes, you heard that right)! Currently residing in a foster home, Bike is the perfect mix of playful mischief and heart-melting sweetness. When he's not busy loving on his hoomans and canine companions, he's mastering the art of "strategic toy acquisition" (AKA politely stealing toys from his doggy mates). Bike is also a certified snuggle expert, with a particular talent for making your couch feel just a little cozier. He's got the stamina of a Tour de France cyclist, making him your ideal running and adventure partner. Bike's foster fam can confirm he's great with kids, gets along with cats, gentle with treats, and has his crate training and house manners down to a science. So, if you're in the market for a dog with a sense of humor, a love for squeaky toys, and a name that's guaranteed to start conversations, look no further. Email christy.hemsworth@rva.gov to adopt Bike today; he's wheely excited to meet you! Primary Color: Brown Weight: 21 Age: 0yrs 9mths 1wks
