PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION HERE’S SUSHI….and she is about as delicious as a platter of Sashimi! This absolutely adorable, tri colored w/ black mask, 14 lb, Havanese/Lhasa Apso mix, is only 9 months old (DOB 10/2024) and was being dumped in the East Valley Shelter. The owner said he was going to be evicted so he could no longer keep her — thank doG a seasoned foster was at the entrance who intercepted her. Intact, not fully vaccinated and needing a grooming, there was no way she was going into the shelter! Now spayed and UTD on vaccinations. Sushi is super social, friendly with everyone and everything…loves playing with toys and other dogs, giving kisses and happily cuddling with her humans! Even though she is still a puppy, she sleeps through the night and is mostly quiet — though she does bark at bigger dogs on walks. That’s her job after all…protecting her humans. Foster is working on this and Sushi is responding. Very smart, wants to please! Sushi is on a new adventure to find the ideal home, one where there is another playful dog, someone who works from home or is home and active enough to work with a puppy! Puppies have a lot of energy and when you have these breeds, they need to know who the boss is and respect you! It’s apparent the former owner didn’t spend much time with her, as she was still learning where the bathroom is — and now she knows! That being said, we never guarantee! She hasn’t been cat tested, but she would be likely be great with kids! If Sushi sounds like a pup you could love for life…let us know! Not a good match for a mature home as she is like the energizer bunny…but one with children over 8 yrs old might just be the ticket. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET ACE….and he’s a special guy! This 15 lb, 3.5 yr old, tan, Lhasa Apso mix, came from the Carson Shelter, after another rescue pulled his brother and left him behind. Poor guy has been through hell, as this was his second abandonment after his thoughtless owners dumped them both in the shelter “because they were moving!!” This broke our hearts. I jumped into my car, pulled him out and immediately took him to the groomer and bathed him myself! Once groomed, we came home and he felt soooo much better! Ace is a big cuddler and kisser. He does well with everyone, but he has a ton of energy and likes to jump up on you, so we think he’d be best in a home without young kids or seniors. We have found he is partial to female dogs and loves to play but seems to be challenged by male dogs. He does not like being left alone, so he might be best with a female — perhaps a bit bigger than he is — one who is submissive and won’t challenge him. OR as your companion where he is rarely left alone. We know nobody is home 24/7! He’s fine with dogs, but when you are around he doesn’t like them usurping his glory! He wants all your love!! This boy is a great eater and isn’t fussy. He is very playful with his two female roomies and with his foster mom. He is pretty quiet, even when left alone he settles down. Ace would be a fantastic companion for a runner, hiker, active person who loves to enjoy the outdoors. He walks extremely well on a leash and does his business shortly after the walk begins! That being said, if he can’t get out and has to go…he will use a pp pad. So far, we haven’t seen him lift his leg, but no guarantees at your house! While he isn’t a lap dog, he would love nothing better to cuddle up to you when the day is done and fall asleep in your arms! Does ACE sound like your kind of guy? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET DWEEZIL…. and there is no question, he is a rockstar! This adorable 12 lb, 2yr-old, tri-colored, Lhasa Shih Tzu mix came from the Harbor Animal Shelter and he was meant to come to LHH. Another person tried to adopt him after he had been available 10 days and we were on our way to get him. They did not have enough money, and they obviously were not the right home, so we picked him up and brought him directly to our groomer. Picture #4 shows you how matted this poor baby was, and in obvious pain. No longer, he is a sweetheart and will fall asleep in your arms while you rub his belly. Dweezil loves everyone. He is kissy, active, extremely playful, loves toys and is a very happy pup! At 12 pounds, he is very underweight and eats like he hasn’t seen food in a month! He is getting plenty of good nourishment at LHH. Dweezil Does not like being left alone, so the best home for him would be one where there is another dog. We are working on his potty training and it’s going very well, but no guarantees at your house. He is potty-pad trained. Dweezil just arrived, so we are still learning more about him. He will be at our adoption events until he finds his forever home! We know he won’t last long so if you’re interested, please apply! Our website is updated daily. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET FENWAY…and even if he had been in Boston, I would have rescued this absolute treasure! Instead, he hailed from the San Bernardino Devore Shelter — one of the worst — and he didn’t look like a Lhasa or anything else! Once groomed, a gorgeous, 3-4 yr old, 17.5 lb, tri colored Lhasa Apso emerged, sweet as can be, which is why I fell in love with this breed. Not only is he a very handsome dude, he is the wonderful dog all Lhasa aficionado want to have as a family member! Fenway seems a little shell shocked right out of the shelter and switches from being a snuggly, kissy pup to a willful dog who isn’t quite sure where or why you are taking him somewhere. Zero aggression, he just tugs on the leash but settles down quickly. He’s afraid of the car at first, but then rides gently. Great with other dogs, does his business outside — most of the time! No guarantees though! He prances like a show dog and he is very proud of his clean shaven do, now that the foxtails and fleas are all gone. Since his makeover, he has been as very cuddly and affectionate gentleman and he’s ready to become someone’s buddy! However, we have learned that he can be playful mouthy and takes treats like he’s never eaten before…unless you say “gentle” and then he’s a pro! Ideal home will be a family with kids, he’d be great to come alone to sports events! Parents who are around a lot and can give this pup lots of love and affection, which we believe he has been lacking 🙁 Another dog is not necessary, but leaving him home alone for hours isn’t either 🙂 Fenway does hit the ball out of the park!! Story
BANDIT, recently groomed and clipped, is a long legged Lhasa Apso, who is 6-7 years old, 17 pounds, and has been an only dog with the same family (who could not keep him), since puppyhood. Bandit's only flaw is that he is overly loyal and protective, and will take a nip out of a stranger's foot or ankle if they suddenly come too close. Lhasas are a very ancient breed and were fierce little sentinel and guard dogs for the Dalai Llama and Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. The 14th Dalai Llama sent them as gifts to the West, and they have been a favorite ever since. Bandit is neutered and vaccinated and eager to be welcomed into his new home where he can be the dedicated guardian he was meant to be. Story
Meet Bobby - The Gentle Senior Lhasa Apso. Bobby is approximately 15 years old and is currently in a foster home. His foster mom says he’s a real joy to have around. He adores his foster mom so much that he follows her around everywhere. Cuddles and belly rubs are his absolute favorite. He’s potty trained and has excellent leash manners, making him a great companion for a relaxing stroll around the neighborhood. He’s not a marathon walker but he does enjoy the fresh air. He prefers a gentle pace. He’s not a big fan of being home alone for too long so he would do best with someone that’s home a lot We’re not sure how he is with kids or other dogs so a meet and greet is a must!If you’re searching for a seasoned companion to add warmth and joy to your home, reach out to our foster coordinator at vbasfosterinfo@gmail.com so we can meet and see if we can create a cozy retirement chapter together. A medical consult will be required prior to any adoption.
