This pet was brought in as a stray and will NOT be available for adoption through our program. All stray animals brought in are posted on the gallery to hopefully be reunited with their families. Each pet is evaluated upon arrival, and throughout their stay, at the Animal Center and we do our best to place the animal in the setting most appropriate for them. Sometimes, they may be better served through one of our Transfer Partners due to the intervention needed, ongoing care required or a quieter setting for that individual. We want our animals to put their best paw forward. Do you want to be admired but not have people be all handsy/huggy with you? Me too!!! I am a gorgeous boy who has had a bit of a rough life and that has led me to be suspicious of some people (especially men). I have tried meditating but found that setting boundaries (3 pets on the head and not 4; snuggles only when authorized) is the best way to go. My person who gave me all the love in all the right doses passed away and now I am looking for that purrfect person who understands that I just like company and to be near you and like to be the one making the first move for attention. I am gorgeous, fluffy, entertaining and low energy. I am an easy boy to have around. I do have allergies to dust and such and as such may sneeze some artsy designs upon occasion but it doesn't slow me down and I don't mind if you don't. I was overlooked by people before my last mom because I am FIV+. What does that mean? Not a lot. It is mostly a label. Meet our literary family - Agnes Grey and Branwell and their children Bronte and Jane Eyre. Their story begins dramatically with their being left in a tote container on a person's porch. The kind person took the cats in, but then was targeted for eviction for trying to help the cats. She reached out to rescue and we were able to take this little family in. Branwell and his family are all incredibly polite and sweet to other cats. They see all animals as pals. New environments can be a little scary at first so they will need a kind, gentle, quiet soul who will give them a little time to settle in. They blossom quickly and love attention. They trill and twine around your legs looking for love with the cuteness you would expect from Disney created cats - they seem too cute and sweet to be real. This sweet girl is shy but sweet. She loves to sit in her little tent or cubby and survey her kingdom. Once she knows she is safe, she is a lover girl but will need patience and a quiet home to help her blossom. She has become pals with our literary kids (Agnes, Branwell, Bronte and Jane Eyre) and would do well with going home with one of them or with a sweet and gentle cat pal. Silas is a 7 year old neutered male Maine Coon mix. He is a loveable & sociable cat. We rescued him as a kitten at 2-3 months old. He is diabetic & is on insulin. He is doing good on his medicine. Unfortunately, it requires being home to feed and give it to him. Our family dynamic has changed & it is hard to be there for him. We had never had a cat in the house before getting Silas. We found out later that my husband is allergic & has recently developed some other medical issues making it hard to be around him. He is used to a dog in the house (he grew up with our dog). He is good with people, easy to hold, & play with. He purrs a lot & loves to lay in your lap. He is an indoor cat, but he loves to go outside & look around. We have a screened in porch that he goes on. He will take a bath & play fetch with his toy mouse. He is up to date on all vaccines & vet visits. We think he would do well in an environment with adults & older kids, retired person or one who works from home.
