Story
Meet Nala! Breed: mastiff/lab mix. Age: est 2.5 years, est birthdate 1/22/2021 Weight: approx 65ish lbs. Training: leash, crate and housetrained. She also knows sit and down and eager to learn more. She is very food motivated which is a plus! Good with other dogs/cats? Yes to dogs, but no cats. Good with adults/kids? Nala is very loyal but it's takes her a little bit to warm up to you. She prefers women but will accept a man. It takes her a bit to warm up to strangers. She is fostered with kids and does great. Personality: shy/reserved in New situations, warms up to be friendly & playful. She loves to play with other dogs. She seems to like to play in water. Reason for rescue: Nala came in as a pup with siblings. She has been adopted and returned twice. First time- she chewed up things when left unattended. Second time - owner was unable to provide time and care she needed. Nala is looking for someone to give her heart to. She is very loyal but it takes her a little time to trust - can you blame her? She prefers women but does fine with her foster dad. She is fearful of most men. She crates easily and walks well on a leash. She does well with the 3 kids in her foster home. She loves to play with her 4-legged foster brother. Nala is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative & current on vaccinations and preventatives. If interested in adding this sweet baby to your family, please message for an adoption application! Adoption fee: $75August 12, 2024, 6:12 pm

Story
Achilles is a 5 year bundle of squishy love. He is very docile and non-reactive around other dogs big or small, male or female. Shows no signs of food aggression or resource guarding. He can be trusted in the house, but when we his foster is not home he is confined to a separate room (no need to crate him, but he's fine in a crate as well). He is not destructive. He's very curious and follows us everywhere and just wants to be attached to us. If you are getting some ice..he comes running. Achilles runs and plays with his foster brother and sister. His favorite toys are a mostly deflated soccer ball and a big bucket he found. The vet said he was so easy and just stood there and let them draw blood and give him an exam. They have a resident cat he walked up to say hello to and didn't do anything beyond sniffing. Everyone he meets falls in love with this squishy boy. He has the greatest expressions and will "talk" to you when he wants something (food, go outside). Doesn't bark when seeing neighbors or walking dogs or if anyone comes to the door. We are working on his leash manners, but that is slow going. He wants to lead and pull to meet everyone ! He is good with kids, rides great in the car and even likes the water! He will climb right in the bath tub for a bath! Achilles is being fostered in Mooresville NC. If interested in adopting you can email us at info@greatdanefriends.com *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. We require a fenced yard (exceptions made on a case by case basis - NO exceptions for puppies or deaf/vision impaired dogs - no invisible fencing), that stairs in the home be covered with some sort of slip resistant material to prevent injury, that all other animals in the home be up to date on vaccinations as well as spayed/neutered and that all dogs live inside as a part of the family. Our approval process consists of an application, vet and reference checks, phone interview and house check. Please email us for an application or if you have any questions.*****   August 15, 2024, 12:28 pm

Story
We fell in love with Freya at the shelter because of her friendly and goofy personality. We dont know much about her history. She loves cuddles and is a major couch potato, but she is also fairly energetic and loves to run and play. She has some leash reactivity that we have been trying to work through. She tends to try and rush up to meet other dogs, which, given her stature, can be pretty intimidating looking and hard for me to stop. We have invested $5k in her training. While she did amazing with the trainer, it has not translated 100% at home, and I think its because I cannot give her the attention and structure she needs to thrive. My job can sometimes be demanding, and I am about to start traveling more for it. My husband still has another year and a half left on his contract with the Army, and until that is up, we split our time between Spartanburg, SC and Fayetteville, NC. While Freya gets along great with my husbands dog, she does not get along with his roommates dog.

This is a courtesy post. Please do not contact Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue for information. Contact information is provided in the description below.Penelope is a 5 year old English Mastiff. She is up to date on vaccinations and spayed. She is a gentle dog, but needs to be in a home without young children as she gets nervous with the quick movements. A home with older, calm teenagers would be ideal for her. Penelope has lived with cats and chickens since she was a puppy and does fine with them.If you are interested in Penelope, please contact Heather at 828-447-4409 or hmariemel@gmail.com
