THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Introducing Leo DiCaprio! Are you ready to make a world of difference in the life of a shy but incredibly sweet pup? Meet Leo, the black and tan smooth dachshund with a dash of chihuahua charm! **Appearance:** Leo is a trim and sleek 10 lbs bundle of cuteness, with his birthday falling on July 11, 2021. His unique blend of dachshund and chihuahua heritage gives him an irresistible charm that's sure to capture your heart. **Background:** Leo's journey to finding his forever home began in a commercial breeding facility, where he didn't experience the love and care a pet deserves. Now, he's just learning what being a pet is all about, and he's ready to embrace the joys of companionship and love. **Health Status:** Leo has been neutered, undergone dental care, and is up-to-date on all his vaccines. He has also been heartworm checked, ensuring he's in tip-top shape to join his forever family. **Personality:** Leo may be terribly skittish and fearful of people initially, but underneath that timid exterior lies a heart of gold just waiting to shine. While he may take some time to warm up and trust, Leo is slowly but surely coming out of his shell with patience and understanding. He'll need plenty of time and love to build that precious bond. **Social Life:** In the comforting presence of other dachshunds in his foster family, Leo finds solace and guidance. He appreciates their company and looks to them for cues on navigating the world around him. Leo enjoys spending time outside, soaking up the sun and exploring his surroundings at his own pace. **Hobbies:** Leo is still learning about the joys of playtime and toys, but with a gentle introduction and the company of another dog, he may discover a newfound love for them. He's a blank canvas waiting to be filled with love and new experiences. **Ideal Home:** Leo would thrive in a home with other resident dogs, as their companionship provides him with comfort and reassurance. A secure fenced yard is essential for Leo to explore and enjoy the outdoors safely. While he may struggle with leash handling initially, with time and patience, he'll learn to conquer it. Leo excels in kennel manners once he's settled in, making him an easy-going housemate. **Potty Training:** Like any young pup, Leo's potty training is a work in progress. With consistency and positive reinforcement, he'll master the art of potty etiquette. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a gentle soul in need of love and understanding, then Leo is waiting with open paws to join your family. Together, you can embark on a journey of trust, companionship, and endless adventures. The suggested adoption donation for Leo is a minimum of $500 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Meet Otto! This debonaire chocolate and tan wirehair dachshund is truly a gentle soul. He's about 6 years old and weighs 9 lbs. He has an epic beard and expressive eyebrows. But his unique feature is the long flowy hair (party in the back!) down his neck and shoulders. He's the whole package. Otto was recently released from a commercial breeding facility, where he never experienced caring touches or kind words. He's a very sweet boy, but he came to us extremely scared of people. He has started to build trust in his foster home and is realizing that humans can be good and head scratches and belly rubs are really nice. He will need a patient home willing to take things slow and build trust. Otto absolutely loves to be outside. He loves running, sniffing, barking and just watching the neighborhood activity. When he's inside, he enjoys doing "neighborhood watch" so he can keep an eye on what's going on outside. It's such a big exciting world out there and Otto doesn't want to miss any of it. Otto will require a securely fenced yard for him to safely enjoy this new world. He's still scared of the leash, so a fence is essential. Otto loves other small dogs. He likes playing, running and snuggling with his foster siblings. He does like medium sized dogs, but can quickly become overwhelmed by them if they don't give him space. Otto will need a resident dog to model appropriate behavior and for companionship. Otto lost 17 teeth during his dental. He still eats fine and loves a good chewie. He likes playing with toys and collects the ones he likes the most in his crate. Potty training is a work in progress. Regular trips outside and consistency will help him master house training. Otto is good about wearing a belly band inside while perfecting his skills. Otto is not fond of being left alone. Although he kennels nicely and quietly at night, he isn't so fond of being kenneled during the day. He can be quite vocal when you leave and when you return. He would probably do best in a home where he's only kenneled part of the day. Otto is a gentle soul that has already come a long way in the short time he's been in rescue. He's gone from flinching when touched to seeking attention and giving kisses. He's a happy little guy once he gets comfortable in his surroundings and with patience, will make someone a great little companion. The suggested adoption donation for Otto is a minimum of $500 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Boy do we have a sweet little bite sized treat for you! Meet Taffy, a 5 yr old (2/19/19), chocolate dapple wirehair dachshund recently released from a commercial breeding facility. Taffy is a sweet, curious little girl that is absolutely loving life outside of the breeding industry. Taffy loves to be outside. She's a curious girl that enjoys spending time in the sun, watching all the neighborhood activity. She's making good progress on her potty training as long as she's taken outside regularly. She still has some accidents, but with patience and consistency, she will master this skill. She will need a securely fenced yard to continue her potty training and allow her to explore her new world safely. Taffy loves to spend time with her person and will follow you around. She likes to "help" around the house especially when it comes to cleaning dishes. Taffy also gets along well with other small dogs. She loves to run around with her dachshund foster sister and they are often found snuggling. She will need a small resident dog to help her settle into her new home. Taffy can still be skittish around loud noises and new people. It will take her a bit to get settled into her new home, but once she is comfortable with her new family, she loves getting petted and loved on. She will even "butt in" and demand attention if other dogs are getting loves and she's not. She will do best in a somewhat quiet home with no small kids. Taffy is fully vetted. During her dental, she lost 18 teeth. She still eats kibble just fine, but you'll want to help her take care of the teeth she has left, so she can keep as many as possible. Taffy has done fine in the crate, but prefers to sleep in the big bed at night. She has also done well being left out in the house when her foster mom leaves the house for a bit. Overall, Taffy is a happy, curious little dachshund enjoying her newfound life. She will need a little patience to get her settled into her new home, but she is truly a sweet little treat.
