Story
Meet DEVLIN, a young, handsome 10 pound multi-grey neutered poodle full of spunk. He is about 1-2 years old. DEVLIN had some sort of accident and ended up as a stray in a South Florida animal shelter, struggling with a seriously broken leg. When Coastal Poodle rescued him, he was skinny, but still managing to get around really well on 3 legs. After surgery, he has been on crate rest and under close supervision for 12 weeks, to be sure hi leg healed well. Sometimes he forgets his leg is all healed and holds it up, but if he gets a chance he can run like the wind on four legs. His last appointment with the surgeon is August 14th and he should be ready to go! DEVLIN's wish list for his forever home: I am really ready to get out of this crate, but here is the problem. As much as I think I am part mountain goat, I have to have a family that will make sure I don't try to climb up on everything! Id love a sniffing walk a few times a day, but I cant be a marathon runner. I also need a totally fenced yard to keep me safe and give me some freedom to be off leash. I really like to have my person nearby, so if you are retired or work at home that would be perfect. Ive had such a hard time. I admit I am a little jealous so Id really like to be an only fur child. I want to jump and play with my foster sister, but I bark when I am in the crate and she is getting lap time! I am young and adventurous so I need a family that will be strict with me and take the time to teach me that I am not allowed to jump on and off furniture so I don't break another leg! My foster mom says Ive been perfect in my crate, letting her know when I have to go out to potty or poop. I know out and wag my tail because mom is getting my leash and Ive learned to bow like a gentleman as she clips it on me! I might need a bit of a refresher about going outside as Ive spent the last few months on crate rest, but Ive always let mom know I needed to go out. Mom thinks I could be bell trained like my foster sister. I am even good getting my fur brushed and my ears cleaned if you are paying attention to me. My foster mom is sure I was very loved in my early life as I love to be held. My wish is for someone who is looking for a handsome, loyal, love bug to share their life with me. Could that be you?! DEVLIN is currently being fostered in BREVARD county. To learn more about adopting, go to www.coastalpoodlerescue.org Can't adopt right now? Story
Frosty is a sweet old boy who has special needs and if he gets adopted will most likely be a hospice home. He is happy to lounge around the house and sleep in his bed. We believe he has doggy dementia and sometimes gets lost & confused. Frosty is also blind and deaf with ongoing kidney issues. What Frosty really needs is a quiet home with someone who wants to take care of him. Frosty does potty outside but we would not consider him housetrained due to his frequent accidents inside. Frosty has been fixed, vaccinated, tested negative for heart worms, microchipped, up to date on flea and heartworm prevention and dewormed. If interested in adding Frosty to your family please contact 321-271-4041 or email hopeforbrevard@gmail.comAugust 19, 2024, 9:29 pm

Story
immy is being fostered in PA. Jimmy is a special little guy, a 14 week old Mini Poodle, who was dealt a bad hand physically but nothing is stopping him from being happy and enjoying life. Jimmy is working on house breaking and coming along. We are starting to learn SIT and COME. He follows his foster Mommy all over and just loves to be with people and other pups to play with and snuggle. We call Jimmy a little goat because he likes to launch himself in the air at you or another pup. Jimmy is sight impaired, one eye did not develop and the other is smaller than normal but he does have enough sight to get around ok. Then there is his wee heart. Jimmy has two abnormalities and is being put on a beta-blocker to slow heart rate. Basically, there is a hole in the heart (VSD) and it is pushing blood through the right side into the lungs. Then, there is the pulmonic valve that is not opening enough to push blood to the lungs. So two abnormalities, but in a way working together: were one is not putting enough blood to lungs the other is putting blood to lungs. The cardiologist put Jimmy’s prognosis as guarded. He needs a re-check in 9 months to see where things stand. Possibly, at that time they can do a balloon procedure to open the valve. Also, there is a chance as he grows the hole could shrink but that is uncertain. As for Jimmy, don’t tell him he has any “issues”. He says, “I’m a puppy and I like to play with other dogs, run around chasing after my foster Mommy, and just have lots of fun. Life, bring it on”. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application Brody is a sweet cuddle bear. He was owner surrendered to partner rescue in North Florida. This is what his foster has to say:Brody is my name and I am one cute little guy.  I am a Poodle mix and I weigh 12 pounds. I am 1 year old, but still have a lot of puppy behavior.   I am full of energy and love to play.  I am outgoing but not pushy.  I don’t like to be alone and love getting to hang out with my human.  I get along with other dogs, but don’t care about being the alpha of the house.  I came from a hoarder situation and so I am ok with other dogs.  My foster mom loves to watch me run in the yard because she says I am so goofy.  My toys are my favorite thing and I will play with them for hours.  I am not housebroken, but we are working on it and my foster mom says I am finally getting the concept.  I will need someone who can work with me on this.  I am up to date on all my required shots and  I have been neutered, microchipped and dewormed.   If you are looking for a fun, energetic pup. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 7:13 pm
