Story
Meet Zoey, a sweet and loving 5 year-old Mini Aussie Doodle weighing 43.7 pounds ready to find her forever home! Zoey is house trained and stays in an indoor dog pen at her foster home. She willingly goes into the pen when there's food or a treat waiting for her. While Zoey loves food, she's a bit overweight beneath all her fur, and she’ll benefit from a healthy diet with limited or healthy treats. Zoey enjoys spending time in the yard and going for leisurely walks, though she prefers cooler weather for her outdoor adventures. Car rides are another favorite activity, and she cherishes 1-on-1 time with her person. She gets along well with the small and medium-sized dogs in her foster home, though she takes a little time to feel safe with new people and dogs. Due to her tendency to chase cats, a cat-free home is recommended. Zoey is good with respectful and calm kids aged 13 and up, understanding that she needs to feel safe before she’ll warm up to them. Described as friendly, reserved at first but outgoing once comfortable, adaptable, happy, and loyal, Zoey is a wonderful companion. Her foster mom shares, "Once Zoey feels comfortable, she is a happy, bouncy, loving girl who gives sweet kisses. She loves to be brushed and have her hair done." If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate companion who will thrive with a bit of patience and lots of love, Zoey could be the perfect match for you! Her minimum adoption fee is $295 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Located in Decatur, IL Nick is a former puppy mill dog and he is working very hard at trusting people. When Nick came to us, you couldn't touch him and he would run away as fast as he could or hid underneath another dog. He wouldn't make eye contact, or take a treat from your hand. Nick has come very far in his foster home over the last 2 months. He still is uncertain of people but he looks foster mom in the eye, takes a treat from her hand, waits to be picked up to be put in bed each night, and knows will jump at the back of her legs when she comes home. Nick still runs if you try to approach him, but he does't go far and he eventually waits to be picked up. Nick is a completely different dog in bed. He is sweet, asks for affection, thumps his tail excitedly and loves ear scratches! Sleeping with his person will help when he goes to a new home. Nick loves other dogs and loves to play with them. He enjoys running around the yard with the other dogs and always has a smile on his face when with his buddies! The foster's pack of dogs have helped him tremendously to relax, learn a routine, and trust. He will need a young playful companion in his new home. Because of Nick's lack of trust for people he is a flight risk. He will need a secure physical fenced yard. Nick also gets nervous around young children and he is not recommended for a home with children under 10. Nick's adoption is 375. H is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, and on monthly heartworm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps. PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!

Story
Gabe came to PCH so terrified of everything and everyone. This boy has opened up so much since then. It is purely a joy to watch him progress every day! He LOVES playing ball, going for walks, treats and wiggling around in his bed and grass! He has the cutest hops when he is excited! He is currently in a foster home and is doing very well! He is doing fine with his foster siblings, but may be happiest as the only dog in the home depending on the other dogs personality. He doesn't mind kitties though! He even enjoys being around horses and cows and giving them kisses through the fence. Gabe is such a loving boy and will give you kisses all day long. While he loves to play and run, he is an old soul and usually very calm. He just loves being with his person. If you are looking to adopt a pup that has been through so much and so deserves to have a home to call his own, please apply! All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile. After we review your completed survey we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. We're primarily a volunteer organization, so we appreciate your patience. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sundays and Mondays and will not be processing any applications on that day. Do get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). Counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and leash to pick up. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart: Park in the PetSmart Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. PCH supports a 21-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we are not able to provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!
