Story
Emme is a very sweet and independent five year old toy poodle that prefers to lay in her doggie bed or on the back of the couch vs a lap. She is approx 7lbs. She is the alpha of her little doggy family. The owner is having more difficulty caring for all three as she gets older. Emme loves to run figure eight zoomies in the yard and play with her siblings. Emme would be best suited in a home with a fenced in yard, with people who are home most of the day, and with another small dog that is more submissive as she needs another friend to keep her active. She does get separation anxiety when left alone for very long and does get anxiety around young children/people who do not give her space to or are not gentle wirh her as she becomes overwhelmed. She may take time to warm up to you, but really is so sweet! We are committed to finding the best forever home for Emme, so we will be very selective for this sweet little tiny heart.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Louis, which is short for Louis Vuitton, is a timid little guy looking for someone to give him a comfortable home where he can settle in at his own pace.  Estimated to be around 7 years old, we don't know Louis full story but from the way that he was found to the way that he acts now we can only imagine the rough start this little guy has had.  Our best guess is that he was used for breeding, he is very fearful of people and does not seem to be familiar with anything other than hunkering down in a kennel.     Louis was on the run in Delaware county for many days before he was caught, he was finally able to be captured when a couple driving down the road saw him sitting frozen in the middle of the road.  When they pulled over to approach him, Louis ran in fear.  With some soft words and slow movements, they were able to gain Louis trust and get him safely into their car. He was so badly covered in fleas and his fur dirty and matted.  The water ran red with blood from the fleas, he was so terrified but let us clean and care for him.  In the days that followed we updated his vaccines and transferred Louis into a foster home to let him decompress.     Louis is very fearful of the world around him, it seems that he is in a near constant state of panic or high alert.  In his foster home he has settled nicely into a routine, found companionship in the other dogs in the home, learned to slowly start trusting people and found a new found appreciation for younger children.  Louis still startles very easily, and when startled his natural reaction is to jump and run away quickly.  Because of this and his history of being so hard to catch, we do think that a fenced in yard would be safest for him.  He would however benefit from a home that would encourage him to go for leash walks, and he will need another confident dog to help show him the ropes. As fearful of loud noises and quick movement as Louis is, he has shown very little fear and doesn't react nearly as much with the young child in the home.  He let's her approach when he's eating, and has also learned to enjoy snuggling up to her in bed when she sleeps.  He may have found comfort in this young child because she's an easy target to steal snacks from, but we'd like to believe it's because he can sense that she won't hurt him as many humans seem to have done in his past. Louis will be okay in a home with older children so long as they will listen when asked to give him a little space.  Louis is neutered but he is not potty trained.  He will wear a belly band in the home, and will follow the other dogs outside to potty. He does have a bad habit of trying to eat his stools when he poops in the house, the veterinarian believes this is an old habit from long days spent in a kennel.  He can be scared of coming inside at times, but with some gentle coaxing he comes around quickly. A leash walking routine may also help him with his potty training!    Louis is far from "perfect", but we know that the perfect home is out there for him.  Someone who will give him the time and love needed to earn his trust will be rewarded with soft eyes and the ultimate bedtime snuggles. Louis will start to show you his playful side, he may steal your dirty socks if they don't make it into the hamper in time and if you aren't careful he'll nab your snack when you aren't looking! He's been known to be playful with another friendly dog near his size, even going so far as to play bow and initiate play with them!    Louis V's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only and looks for owners to have a history of having kept their pets altered, current on vaccines and preventatives.  Please submit an adoption application for consideration through our website, our adoption process includes a vet history check and a home visit.  Louis V is seeking a home within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA at this time. We believe that he may need multiple meet and greets with a potential adopter to find the best fit for him.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 8:30 am

Story
Meet the adorable Arthur! He is an 18-month-old Peekapoo (Poodle and Pekingese mix) with a curly coat and a wagging tail. Weighing in at a delightful 14 pounds, he is the perfect size for snuggles and adventures alike. Arthur’s journey from a timid, scared dog to a playful, loving companion has been nothing short of remarkable. When he first arrived at his foster home, Arthur was a bundle of nerves, unsure of toys, people, or even the joy of a good belly rub. But with time, patience, and a lot of love, Arthur has blossomed into a happy, confident pup who’s ready to share his newfound zest for life with his forever family. Arthur thrives in an environment where he can run, play, and explore, so a fenced yard is a must for him. He is a playful pup who adores other dogs, especially if they’re as active and spirited as he is. Having a furry friend to romp around with is important to Arthur because that is what makes him happy and more confident. But don’t let his playful side fool you—Arthur also enjoys winding down with a cozy snuggle on the couch after a good play session. He’s the perfect balance of energetic fun and loving cuddle buddy. Arthur has a hearty appetite and will come running from outside at the sound of the treat jar lid being banged. His love for treats makes training a breeze and adds a little extra motivation to his daily routine. If you’re looking for a dog who will fill your life with joy, laughter, and cuddles, Arthur is your guy. He’s ready to bring his playful spirit and affectionate nature into a loving home where he can continue to thrive and grow. Arthur is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you would like to meet Arthur, please go to our website at www.furfunrescue.org and fill out the adoption application form.
