Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Einstein (formerly Tiny) is making a return to MMAR bio written by adopted mom: Einstein is the sweetest little guy. He is very smart and very obedient. He loves to play fetch. He gets very possessive of his owners because he loves them so much. For this reason, he should be an only pet because he may become aggressive with other animals. Recently he was diagnosed with diabetes and is on insulin twice daily and a special diet. He is responding well to the insulin, but because of the diabetes, he sometimes can't hold his bladder while I am at work or overnight. Not to worry though, he is completely potty pad trained. I would keep him in a heartbeat, but he has been too aggressive towards my senior dog that I've had for 13 years and she is constantly on edge around him. I can't do that to her in her final years. He's such a goofy little love. I'm going to miss him.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ********************************************************************************** We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. If you are interested in a particular pet, we suggest you email: mmarpaws@gmail.com to see if that pet will be there.   Applications are approved on the basis of the best and most appropriate home for the animal, not on a first come, first served basis. On site adoption available to pre-approved applicants only.   Adoption fees go towards vaccines, heartworm prevention/testing, flea/tick prevention, spay/neuter and other medical problems that may arise.   MMAR is an all volunteer, foster based, 501 (c) 3, non profit organization. Story
Dudley's ideal home: Someone who is home most of the time, fenced yard, another small dog to play with, and NO CATS. Health issues: Mild hearing loss. Dudley is a senior poodle mix who weighs 15 pounds. We do not know his exact age, but he is at least 10. He had a senior blood panel and no problems were found. His teeth were terrible, but he had a dental November 11th. We did an X-ray of his back and found he has severe arthritis on his spine. He doesn't really act like he has problems other than having difficulty jumping up on the furniture. We got him a little step stool and he uses that. I do think he has a slight hearing problem. He responds better to high pitched noises than voices, and when he hears a noise, he usually turns his head in the opposite direction of the noise. We don't know much about Dudley's past other than we know he was with a homeless person for at least 3 years, living in a tent. He has adjusted perfectly to life in a foster home. He is housebroken, but he also uses pee pads we have in the basement for our other senior dogs. When he wants to go out, he paces the house. We are on a schedule for going out and he has been doing just fine for the time we've had him. He loves our 2 dogs, but he does chase the cats, so a home without cats is important. I also want Dudley to go to a home with a fenced yard and another small dog for him to play with. He loves to play with my dogs, and his main obsession is stuffed animals. Dudley can play fetch or tug-of-war for an hour before he gets tired. He loves to run around the yard sniffing everything and barking at squirrels. This really makes him happy, which is why I want to find him a home with a fenced yard for him to explore. I don't want his only time outside to be on a leash or tie-out. He deserves to be able to run around freely. Dudley sleeps in bed with me and lets me know if he needs to get up by standing on me. Most nights he sleeps fine with our last trip outside around 10:30 and we get up around 5amHe is a very smart boy, loves to go on walks and walks very well other than frequently stopping to sniff things. I don't think he's used to going to the groomer because he doesn't seem to enjoy it. Hopefully that will change as he goes more often. The groomer said that his hair is extra curly, so he will need someone to groom him regularly to avoid matting, and be willing to take him to the groomer every 5 weeks or so. Dudley doesn't require a special diet, but I do have him on senior canned food. He also loves chew bones and often chews on the Nylabone style bones we have for our big dogs. He loves treats of all kinds and happily chews on dental bones. Dudley's adoption fee is $250. Please contact BEAGMOM1@YAHOO.COM with questions and to request an application. A home visit is required prior to adoption. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Please visit our website at sheltertohome.com for information on our adoption process.**March 28, 2025, 11:30 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Spot!  Spot is a 17-pound poodle mix that came to us very matted and dirty so had to be completely shaved down.  He has adjusted very well to his foster home.  His foster mom says: "Spot is a very good boy! He likes to ride in the car and look out the window.  He walks on a leash and potties outside.  He sleeps overnight in a crate in the bedroom with no complaint.  He's good with my large dog.  He likes to cuddle with people on the couch.  He knows 'sit' and 'shake', and loves to play with his ball and can catch it in his mouth when it's tossed.  Spot weighs 17 pounds and has beautiful white markings when his hair is longer.  He'd make a perfect family do.  He was timid at first, but took just two days to relax." Spot is already neutered, UTD on vaccines, and will be microchipped before going to adoption. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
