Maya’s a 4yo 11lb Poodle mix. She’s dog friendly, but would prefer to be an only dog. She’s house broken when kept on a schedule and will use a pee pad if needed. She’s good with a secure fenced in yard and/or going for harness leashed walks. She pulls a lot and is a bit skittish about loud noises but loves walks or running around a yard. She loves toys, fetch, catch, people and being in their lap. She’s sweet, happy and has lots of puppy energy. She needs warm up time to new people and dogs and will bark at noises. She is a a people pleaser and wants to learn and a big cuddler. Maya’s foster requires a home, where someone is home often, so not to be left for long periods of time, patience to allow her to warm up to them and new experiences, a secure fenced in yard, runner and/or going on long walks along with people who are on board to show leadership, consistency, structure and to continue working on training. If your home DOES NOT meet these requirement’s please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone whose home does not meet the needed requirements. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. MEET SNICKERS! This adorable 12 year old, 11ish pound Poodle mix is the sweetest little guy! He joined us from Philadelphia's animal control shelter after being surrendered due to his former family relocating. Snickers came to us in need of some basic veterinary care in order to look and feel his best and has since caught up on care, including having 11 painful teeth extracted. Now that he's feeling better, he's also ready to land a home! Snickers is mostly a laid-back guy who would do well in a home with low-energy dogs or as the only dog. While he’s fine with other dogs, he doesn’t put much energy into playing with them and may correct any high-energy pups who get in his face. He’s also totally fine with cats! He’s great with people and older kids but would probably prefer a calm, quieter environment—he has been known to give a gentle nip at feet when blocked from going outside, so he might not be the best match for young children Potty breaks are important for this little guy, so regular outdoor time is key—he’s otherwise housetrained and does great in a routine. He can be crated, but he’ll likely bark a bit when left alone at first. Snickers LOVES his snuggles and will happily curl up next to you for a cozy cuddle. Mealtime, walks, and car rides are his absolute favorite—he gets so excited that he can’t help but dance and spin in a joyful circle! He has a sharp mind and is always observing—you’ll notice he seems to know exactly when it’s time for his walk or potty break. He even loves going on trips to the pet store and greeting everyone he passes. He’s also a big fan of soft beds and will jump right into his as soon as it’s bedtime. Dolly, my sweet, 3 year old, 10lb poodle mix was traumatized almost exactly a year ago when a groomer let her escape and she was lost in south Philly. She was a slightly nervous dog before that, but now she gets scared at most city noises, people, trucks, and other dogs. After a year of training, anxiety medication, and lots of love, I’ve come to the heartbreaking decision that it’s unfair and harmful to her to keep her with me in the city. What she needs is to live out in the suburbs in a quiet home with no other dogs or children, where going on a walk will be quiet, and/or there’s a backyard. I love her so much. She’s a cuddly sweetheart who loves being tickled, loves chasing after a ball so much, and will sleep curled up against you in bed. Due to life circumstances on my end, she is not yet spayed. I have reduced the adoption fee to account for spaying costs. (Not rehoming due to landlord issues, but there isn't an appropriate option for our situation.)
