Story
The lovely Juniper is a 10-pound miniature poodle, approximately 7 months old. She is from yet another puppy mill. She is scheduled for PDA heart surgery shortly, after which she is expected to lead a full and happy life. The rescue, of course, will cover the cost of the surgery.  The PDA surgery is a "one and done" and her heart will be repaired and ready for a long life Don’t let her calm demeanor fool you! Although she may be cautious at first, she can quickly go to curious and then to “how do you like me now!” In her current foster home, she lives with two dog savvy cats and a senior small dog.  She loves to play with the cats and they are very tolerant of her antics. When they tell her they have had enough, she respects them and goes off to find another adventure. She is also good with the dog in the home and respects that he is a senior and may not be able to keep up with her enthusiasm. She loves exploring the fully fenced yard.  Her zoomies include Indy race car speed laps around the gardens. Look out squirrels and butterflies-she is lightning fast! She also is quite happy to curl up on the grass beside her foster folks and enjoy the sights and sounds. Juniper does bark at neighborhood sounds or if in the house she sometimes barks at something she hears outside.  This has much improved since her first arrival but an apartment or condo would not be her ideal home. She enjoys her crate. She sleeps there overnight and has her meals there as well. Nap time can find her curled up in her bed there or sharing a bed with one of the cats. Housetraining is coming along well-the odd accident.  She does need to go out regularly.  She goes for two walks every day and does all her business while out. She walks with a harness and has adjusted to it well.  She does need to learn to curb her enthusiasm when meeting people and other dogs. She gets very excited to meet everyone she sees.  She needs to be calmer and respect all that she meets. Her ideal home would be with an individual or family that is home more often that not, have a fenced yard with real grass (as opposed to artificial grass as loves to spend time sniffing nature's offerings) a furry friend would be great for her, whether it be another dog, or a cat.  All in all, Juniper is a lovely, fun and entertaining young lady and deserves to find that loving, forever home.  August 20, 2024, 9:00 am

Story
Roland is an approximately 11 pound mini poodle, neutered male; around 10-12 years old. He's been through quite the journey.  Originally from a puppy mill and went to one of our foster homes.  While there, a neighbour's dog jumped over the fence and attacked Roland.   He suffered numerous injuries and has some issues because of that attack. His airway was affected and now he has a deep honky cough that comes serval times a day.  Could be caused by pleural thickening and the hiatal hernia seen on the ultrasound.  His ribs were also fractured but have since healed.  Roland can be shy and skittish but he does warm up.  He is not vocal or destructive when left alone.  He does not like to be crated and will paw excessively on the front of the crate.  His housetraining is coming along although he still lifts his leg sometimes in the home.  He is good with other dogs but will often try and eat their food them if not separated  He has a low thyroid and is on meds for the 2x per day approximately 60.00 per month. Roland is a great chap and is learning to walk on leash now which took a while b/c of all the surgeries and injuries he sustained, he could not wear a collar or a harness.  During his dental he lost all of his teeth due to severe decay and rotting. He had 2 fistulas that were repaired and now successfully healed over     August 20, 2024, 9:00 am

Story
Meet Rusty, a 3-year-old, 7.6-pound male Miniature Poodle puppy mill survivor. He is smart, sweet and loving. Due to his difficult start in life, he is still skittish around sudden movements and loud noises. Each day he is enjoying new experiences, gaining confidence, and seeing that the world isn't so scary. He would do very well in a home without small children. While he gets along with other dogs, he could also be an only dog. At the moment he is not a big walker. While he is willing to walk to do his business, he usually turns around to head back home once finished. Rusty is quiet and does not yet show interest in playing with toys. Instead, he prefers to snuggle and curl up next to his foster mom waiting for pets. Rusty and his foster family are focusing on housetraining. While he is making good progress, there have been a few accidents along the way. After all, he has never known the inside of a house as his whole life so far has been spent in a barn. He will need a family with patience as he continues to learn new skills, which we know he will pick up in no time.  He would love a quiet home with a loving family to curl up with for movie nights and lazy mornings in bed. The perfect little companion!  August 20, 2024, 9:00 am
