Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Leni, a lovely girl recently welcomed to Sioux Falls Canine Rescue. She is a Miniature Poodle. She weighs 11 pounds and is 5 years old. With a friendly and curious nature, she's always ready to greet you with an open heart and a little wag of her tail. This sweet girl is eager to find her forever home and become your new best friend. Though she's still adjusting to her new life, her warm personality is already shining through. She adores her foster mom and loves to be by her side at all times. She would thrive in a home where someone is around much of the time. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received minimal socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. January 24, 2025, 9:10 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Pepper is female mini poodle who came to SFCR after being retired from a commercial breeding program. A note from her foster momma: Pepper is a shy, sweet little girl who loves to play and follow her foster sister around. She enjoys running outside in the backyard, bully sticks, chew toys, and of course treats! Pepper will need time to warm up but once she does, she will quickly lick your hand and even let you shake her paw. We are still working on her offering her paw to shake. She knows what it means and will put weight on opposite leg so that you can shake the other paw when you say "shake other one".  She knows that brushing her teeth means she going to get a dental stick. She knows to potty outside and hasn't had any accidents since the first day she came. She has learned she will be taken out regularly. Usually every 2-4 hours during the day and then again right before bed and first thing in the morning. Pepper gets along great with her foster sister and they sleep in the same kennel at night. They even share a dog bed during the day while I work at my desk.   ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Physically fenced in yard to keep her safe - no invisible fences. Leash walking is still a work in progress. Pepper must have another dog to keep her company and boost her confidence. She would be lost without another dog to guide her. Pepper has been spayed and also had a dental. She tested negative for heartworm & tick-borne disease, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400 plus tax.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped. I came to Dakota Dachshund Rescue as a breeder release and I am thoroughly enjoying this new life of mine as a family pet! I am still very scared of new people and new situations - oh and loud noises or quick movements. This world is all new to me!  But if you are patient and kind to me, I will warm up and be your best friend! I promise.  My current foster mom is my best friend. I follow her wherever she goes - upstairs, downstairs, bedroom, bathroom, couch, you name it. If she is there, so am I!  Though I prefer she stay in one place so I can rest on my dog bed and keep an eye on her. My dog bed is my safe spot. Except when she leaves. I really, really don't enjoy being left home without her. Although I get along great with my fellow dog-mates, my foster mom is my favorite. But I do love running around my backyard with them!  That's about the only way I get my exercise because I WILL NOT walk on a leash.  My foster mom has tried and tried, but as soon as she picks up the leash, I refuse to move. So a fenced in backyard is a must for me so I can get my exercise! And the fence needs to be high.  I can be a bit of an escape artist. I already escaped from a temporary foster home once. It was terrifying, and I went missing for 10 whole days. I'm so thankful they found me, and don't want to go through that again!  So a nice, solid fence is important.  Do you think you have a spot for me? Hi, I'm Mason. I am a sweet boy just starting my journey to become a house pet. I am learning to wear a harness and introduced to a leash, not my favorite yet but I am coming along slowly. I do require a fenced yard. am learning about housetraining, bellybands are new to me but it reminds me I have to wait to go potty outside. My foster mom takes me out on a schedule to teach me.Can you help me continue on my journey and become a special part of your family?I am 3 1/2 yrs old, I weigh 17 pounds, my adoption fee is $400 plus sales tax $18=$418   My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter, dental  and microchipping.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 7, 2025, 10:26 am
