Meet Frodo, an 8-year-old miniature Poodle mix with a calm demeanor and a heart full of love! Weighing 18 pounds, Frodo came to CAMO from another shelter and is ready to find his forever home. Frodo has cataracts in both eyes but still sees well enough to get around confidently-he doesn't let it slow him down! He is heartworm positive but has already received his ProHeart-12 injection and is currently undergoing treatment. He'll need a recheck in six months to ensure he's on the path to full recovery. This sweet boy loves hanging out with his people, spending time outside, and enjoying quiet moments. Frodo is very food-motivated, making him a joy to train. He does well with other dogs who match his calm temperament and respect his personal space. Frodo would thrive in a relaxed, laid-back home where he can be showered with love and attention. If you're looking for a gentle companion, Frodo is ready to meet you and be your new best friend! Story
Honey is a super sweet and active poodle mix who came to us very injured from the Fort Bend TX shelter. She had to have orthopedic surgery and has since recovered. She is about 3 years old. Her is what she needs: • Secure, fenced-in backyard and no cyclone fences (she can climb, and I think she could clear a cyclone fence if she put her mind to it) • No doggy door and must be supervised while pottying outside (she is super mischievous, tries to eat things she shouldn’t, and will try to find a way out, not because she’s scared, but because she craves adventure beyond the yard) • Must be secured when visitors come to the door (she is a door dasher…I typically have my family members text me ahead of time before they arrive lol…the couple times they forgot, they opened the door, and Honey squeezed through the crack of the door) • She likes to follow me around the house and has gotten under my feet and tripped me a few times, so probably not a good match for someone with significant physical limitations/restrictions… • Needs lots of playtime and decent amount of physical activity and mental stimulation, or she can be a bit destructive. That being said, she has excellent crate manners and has never destroyed anything in her crate. She can be redirected when I’ve caught her tearing something up. She’s never torn up any of my furniture. Probably not a good fit for someone looking for a binge-watching partner. 😆 • No shared walls. She can be VERY vocal when playing and when she hears any noises outside. • No toddlers/very young children probably best. She is VERY sweet and loves everyone, but she plays rough, and her play bite can hurt (she has actually bruised my ankle before). An older kid or adult would likely know how to safely and calmly redirect her; I think a toddler or young child might either become fearful or lash out/hurt Honey out of fear or anger. Visitors are fine WITH supervision. I’ve supervised her with my 2-year-old niece, and she was very sweet with her and even indifferent at times after I redirected her a couple times from trying to play bite my niece; my niece ended up playing fetch with Honey, and Honey loved it. I just wouldn’t ever leave her unattended with my niece. My older nieces and nephews (ages 9, 16, 17, 19) were great with her, and she loved them too. • Another playful pup in the home would be ideal. She loves loves LOVES to play with my Kailee girl. It’s so funny and sweet to watch…she also stalks Kailee, which is hilarious. Additional notes: • 100% crate trained (and I crate her when I work due to her aforementioned antics when left unsupervised lol) • House broken on a schedule (She knows she’s supposed to potty when she goes outside. She JUST had her first peepee accident in the house the other day, but it’s because she had been playing for a long time, and I was busy getting ready and lost track of time.) • She’s still a bit sensitive with her back paws, especially the right one, so she’ll kind of snarl and curl her lips when I wipe them, but she’s never bitten me hard. It’s gotten way better because I’ve learned how to redirect her. • If I had to guess, I’d say she’s about 75-80% play/zoomies/wrestling, and 20-25% love and snuggles. 😂 She’s been cuddling with me when I nap and stays really quiet and calm. She also stays quiet all night long. She loves some good pets, belly rubs, and kisses. Adoption fee $400 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. Story
Charming Christine. This little angel would love to share your lap and follow you around, stopping to play throughout your day. Chrissy is adorable, lovable, and smart. She is crate trained, 90% potty trained, and does well being groomed. She gets along with other dogs and would probably be fine with cats and kids over 12 yrs as she's pretty small and can't risk being dropped. Christine came to the rescue very thin, very matted and pretty shy. She is blossoming rapidly. Her confidence is soaring and she is getting very comfortable with her new environment. Once her hair grows out she'll be a little snowball. Currently weighing in at 5lbs 14 oz, little Chrissy will be healthy at just about 6.5 -7lbs. This little girl is very easy to live with and even puts herself to bed at night. Don't miss your opportunity to adopt this gorgeous, charming baby girl. She won't be around long! Adoption fee is: $350 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Story
If you are looking for a sweet, gentle girl with plenty of energy but also calm and snuggly, then look no further. That description fits Sandy Rosie to a “T”. This sweet girl has had a rough last couple of years if not her entire life. We only know what has happened to her since she was turned in as a stray to Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) in August of 2023. She was rescued in quite bad shape but CAP took care of most of her needs (bad skin, tumor, ear infection and dry eye) at that time and then found a home for her. Sadly, those adopters did not continue her care (eyes and ears and minimal grooming if any) as she came back in rougher shape when they turned her in due to supposedly moving to a place where they could not have a dog. Based on this experience, CAP determined she was not adoptable and reached out to CAMO to see if we could take her, or she was going to be euthanized. We are glad they reached out to us as Sandy Rosie is one sweet girl at 14.5 pounds and a young senior (6-8 years old?) While she has a deformed front left leg with no toes (probably genetic), one of her favorite activities is her daily walk. She also plays with the other dogs in her foster home as well as with toys. She loves to snuggle with her human. She has been friendly with everyone she has met since being in her foster home. She will need an adopter who will continue her twice daily cyclosporine eye drops for dry eye and will monitor her ears for infection. The canals are quite narrow due to having had so many infections. But she is the best patient so this minor care is quite easy to administer. And her weight will need to be watched as she does love food but being overweight will not be good for her leg. She is house trained (though will use a pee pad if her foster mother fails to notice her standing by the door to go out), crate trained, heartworm negative, microchipped, up to date on her vaccinations, spayed and has had a dental. If you can provide a loving, caring forever home for Sandy Rosie, please complete an adoption application at www.camorescue.com. You will not regret it.
