Story
Meet Teddy Bear Boy – the perfect mix of playful energy and cuddly charm! Teddy is a lovable poodle with a heart full of joy and a tail that never stops wagging. True to his name, he’s as sweet as a teddy bear and just as huggable. Whether you’re looking for a walking buddy, a backyard sunbather, or a couch companion after a long day—Teddy is your guy. He’s wonderfully social and has been living peacefully with both dogs and cats. He’d thrive in a home with other furry friends, but would be just as happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. Teddy is also fantastic with kids, making him a great choice for families, but he’d do just as well with active young adults who are ready for some fun and games. Teddy Bear Boy loves playtime, belly rubs, and just being near his people. He has a gentle, friendly spirit that makes everyone feel like his best friend. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to grow with your family or keep you company on life’s little adventures, Teddy is ready to fill that role—with lots of tail wags, sun naps, and snuggles included. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $1,600 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
Lulu was found as a stray in a rural part of Utah and was very timid. After a few weeks in her foster home, she’s come out of her shell and is a wonderful girl. She has a little separation anxiety when her humans leave so a canine companion will be best for her. She’s not a fan of the crate but can be trusted in the house. She’s tall and can counter surf if food is out. She’s smart and can lift a kitchen garbage can lid. She’s also learning to leave bathroom garbages alone. She can jump really high - she likes to tease the dog behind our 6’ vinyl fence. She shouldn’t be left unattended if the home has neighbor dogs. She likes to run and wrestle with her foster sisters. She sleeps on the floor in the bedroom next to her human and won’t get on the bed. She has been invited to sit on the couch next to her foster dad and she thinks that is very cool. She will sit and lay down. During dinner we tell her to “go lay down” and she will. Her foster home doesn’t have a dog door so she waits by the door when she has to go out. She knows the command “go potty.” She’s been gaining some weight that she desperately needed and sits for treats and takes them gently. She will bark if someone comes to the door or if she sees someone she doesn’t know. She required a slow introduction to her foster sisters and still needs that with some new people. Life on the streets was probably pretty rough for her. She has beautiful markings and will need regular grooming (she was extremely scared at her grooming appointment). She is a very loving girl and will be the best companion ever.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Meet Tripp! This cute little 2 year old, 20# poodle mix is an extra sweet boy! Tripp loves to follow his people and is always up for a cuddle. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and even does well with cats. Tripp is a happy and low key boy who is still working to build a little more confidence, he is learning quickly that the world is not so scary. Tripp loves to play fetch! He is also quite agile and can stand up on his back legs with ease, of course he is hoping for a treat after that trick! Tripp loves people of all ages and enjoys the company of other dogs. He would enjoy a calm home where he can be part of the family and go out on adventures. Tripp is learning the leash and to feel comfortable riding in the car, but he has nearly perfected his dog door use and enjoys the safe retreat of his cozy crate at night, when he is alone, and for meals. Tripp is fully vetted- fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and health checked. His adoption fee is just $200. To be considered, please apply online at caws.org. Thanks!
