Story
Meet Save Ferris, our six-year-old miniature poodle lady!   This sweet girl spent her first 6 years as a breeder in a puppy mill and is hoping for a brighter future with a perfect forever family. Save Ferris is working on her house manners and making progress every day. We think she may have been de-barked, but she makes a cute little squeak to let her fosters know that she wants to go outside.   Due to her difficult past, Save Ferris is a shy gal who gets a little overwhelmed in new situations. She is slowly building trust in her foster's home but will need a kind, loving, and patient adopter to help her continue learning how to be a loved pet. She is a very gentle girl who finds comfort in the other dogs in her foster home, so we are looking for a quiet home with another balanced pup to help her continue to learn trust in humanity.   Although she's scared, we can see that Save Ferris is filled with love, wagging her tail when her fosters talk sweetly to her. She just needs to learn how to be a dog. Once she builds trust, she will be a fantastic companion.   Save Ferris is a diamond in the rough. She’s slowly learning to trust and has a funny personality. She will cock her head to one side and peer at her fosters when she thinks they aren’t looking. She also happily gallops out the front door with her canine foster sisters and comes in when called.   You can apply for her today at greendogsunleashed.org/adopt. Preference will be given to adopters within one hour of 22974. Due to her difficult start to life, positive reinforcement training with GDU is required. This can be in-person group training, in-person private training, or virtual.    At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2080840##

Story
Meet Val: Our Three-Year-Old Miniature Poodle Gal!   Val spent the first three years of her life in a puppy mill used for breeding. Despite this challenging start, she is doing great with her crate training, keeping calm and quiet in the crate, and making fast strides in her house manners. She gets along well with the kitty in her foster home but tends to want to chase farm animals, so proper supervision or fencing is recommended if you have livestock or chickens. Val is learning leash skills and although non-reactive, she loves other dogs and gets very excited to see new friends. She will need continued positive training for walking on a loose leash.   Val’s personality is a wonderful mix of affectionate, calm, cuddly, and fun! She is pretty mellow during downtime and is very sweet. She's friendly towards strangers, loves attention and snuggling, and enjoys playing (especially outside!).   She enjoys going for walks, watching the world out the window, playing with other dogs, and indulging in Licky-Mats and frozen Kongs. She is generally easygoing, easy to groom, and just an all-around great girl.   Val’s gentle demeanor and loving nature make her an ideal addition to any home. Whether you live in an apartment or a house with a yard, Val will adapt well and bring joy to your life.   Preference will be given to applicants who live within one hour of 22974. Due to her rough start to life, positive reinforcement training, either in person or virtual, with Green Dogs Unleashed will also be required for adoption.   At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Story
Meet Antilles: Our Two-Year-Old Miniature Poodle Girl!   This social butterfly and Energizer bunny is a true firecracker! Antilles is friendly towards strangers but also independent, with a mischievous streak that keeps life silly and fun. She is very affectionate, loves attention (and will demand it), and has a high energy level that keeps her bouncing around all the time. She’s very smart, a little stubborn, and oh-so-sweet. She is not afraid to share her opinions, so prepare for some lively conversations. Antilles loves going for walks, playing fetch, playing chase, and romping with other dogs. She needs lots of exercise, so having access to a yard and another friendly pup would be ideal for her.   Antilles spent the first two years of her life in a puppy mill, used for breeding. Despite this challenging start, she is making great progress with her crate training and house manners. She gets along well with the kitty in her foster home but tends to want to chase farm animals, so proper fencing is recommended if you have livestock or chickens. Antilles is working on her leash manners but will need continued training for walking with a loose lead. She can tend to get underfoot on the leash, so mobility issues should be considered.   Antilles will do best with someone who has poodle experience or experience with very smart, small, active dogs and someone who understands and is willing to commit to the grooming requirements of a wiggly little poodle.   Preference will be given to applicants who live within one hour of 22974. Due to her rough start to life, positive reinforcement training, either in person or virtual, with Green Dogs Unleashed will also be required for adoption.   At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption.
