You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.   Bite History! (minor)Nibbles is a GREAT dog! He loves to be the BOSS DOG and is protective of his humans. He devours and loves his squeaky toys and is a lovely addition.  This little nugget did get a bit 'defensive' and bit.  We don't know what the circumstances were surrounding the bite.  The shelter reports it was  'minor' bite.  We will tell you he presented as defensive and unfriendly at our vet.  We were able to administer an anti-anxiety drug to help him deal with the stress of being poked/prodded.  He was NOT happy about it, but we were able to get him vetted! We are working on helping him to learn trust.  His adopter will need to be prepared to continue this type of counter-conditioning to help him become less reactive  and more trusting and open to love. We have been able to crate him, and he does well in a crate.  He's a great little dog who will get along with females, but is male selective.    He can (and will) climb a baby gate.  He's really very sweet and loves to be loved.  He will roll over and show you his belly.   He dislikes strangers and his family will need to give him some time to decompress and learn to trust.   PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS DOG IF YOU HAVE OR PLAN TO GET ANOTHER MALE DOG  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 1:17 pm

He's a leggy boy, and quite a lover.  Sweet, playful, a home with kids aged 5+ will be suitable for this boy! He gets along well with other dogs, and loves to play! He's being treated for bi-lateral ear infections  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 1:17 pm

Story
Meet Bruce, the sweetest pup you'll ever meet! This adorable guy has had a tough past, but he's come out the other side with so much love to give. Bruce is a playful spirit who can entertain himself with toys and games, making him a joy to have around. He's also potty trained and comfortable in a crate, making him an easy addition to any household. Bruce absolutely loves belly rubs and cuddles, and he's a real snuggle bug once he feels safe and secure. While he may take a little time to adjust to a new environment, his sweet and gentle nature shines through once he feels at home. He gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats, although he can be a bit nervous around big or very energetic dogs. Bruce has a degenerative eye condition that will eventually lead to blindness, so he will need a bit of extra care. However, this won't stop him from living a full and happy life. With the right fit, Bruce will thrive and become an integral part of his new family. If you're looking for a loving companion who's ready to give and receive affection, Bruce might just be your perfect match. Bruce is a Male Miniature Schnauzer/Maltese Mix that we estimate to be born around 3/10/2016 and weighs 15 lbs.
