Story
Kolby is a happy, well behaved 5-year-old Morkie (Maltese and Yorkie) who lived exclusively with a single adult. He is currently in a home with adults and cats and gets along with everyone. Kolby enjoys sleeping with his people at night, cuddling on the couch, chasing balls, games of tug, and walks on a harness. Like many small dogs, Kolby should be protected from young kids and larger dogs. Plan for professional grooming costs of $78 every 6-8 wks. Typical of small breeds, he needs regular teeth brushing with a small toothbrush and paste like CET's enzyme toothpaste. He has staining but not a lot of tartar on his teeth. Kolby enjoys small bites kibble and does not have any known food allergies. Kolby is staying with his previous owner's extended family, and they report no potty-training issues. Kolby can "hold it" like a big dog but would benefit from frequent potty breaks. The adoption facilitator has toys and dental products to gift Kolby's new family .

Story
** If you are interested in adopting Gibby, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Gibby is an adorable Yorkie / Chihuahua mix. He is 3 years old and 11 lbs of cute, scruffiness. Gibby found himself in an overcrowded, scary, high-kill shelter in Houston, and Farfel's was reached out to to help this sweet guy. He arrived to our rescue in September of 2024 and was adopted. However, Gibby's family adopted a baby recently (we were not made aware of this plan when they adopted Gibby from us) and now Gibby is being returned because he does not do well with younger kids. However Gibby's foster home before he was adopted had teenage kids (12, 14, and 17) and he did great with them! From Gibby's foster: * * * * "Gibby is super sweet and well behaved. He is good with our pre-teens and teens and other dog, and sleeps all night and stays in his crate whenever we have to go out very well. Gibby is the sweetest little cuddle monster. He loves snuggles on the couch or in bed, but can also sleep in his crate all night if you prefer. He is one of the most affectionate dogs we've ever been around. He does most of his potty breaks outside. He loves walks and is very food motivated, which makes it very easy to do training with him. He loves treats and playing games (enrichment activities are his favorite, especially hunting for his food). He is great with our dogs and met my sisters dog and was friendly! He just doesn't do great meeting new dogs while he is out on a leash. He has been great with my dogs and dogs we have had visit the home though. He doesn't like to share his food or treats, so we do feed him separate. He has been very close to my braver cat who was laying still on the floor and he just looked at her. I think he probably would chase if she had run, but I was impressed that he didn't bark or charge her! He is food motivated. He's an adorable, friendly, cuddly, silly little dog!" * * * * Sweet Gibby recently had surgery to remove a trichobezoar—a large hairball that formed in his stomach from excessive licking. To prevent this from happening again, his fosters have been using a Shed Defender, which is a lightweight, breathable onesie that keeps him from licking / ingesting hair. He’ll benefit from wearing this regularly, especially when unattended, and his adopter will receive one to take home with him. We suspect his licking may have been triggered by anxiety after his previous family had a baby, so we’re hopeful that in a stable, loving home, the self-licking will subside. With a little management and a lot of love, Gibby will thrive! We would love to see Gibby in a home with an individual, family (older kids are preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet dog. We'd hate to see him left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home, as he is much too social for that type of arrangement. We'd like to place Gibby in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Gibby has been fully vetted, and he is in great health, up to date on his shots, and neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
*** If you are interested in Scooter, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ *** Scooter is a charming 6-year-old, 7-pound Yorkie (looks purebred although we do not DNA test) who is ready to find a loving forever home. He and his tiny sister found themselves in need after their owner sadly passed away. With no local family to care for them, they were taken in as a police impound and eventually surrendered for adoption. Scooter is a true little gentleman—sweet, affectionate, and looking for companionship. While he’s been through a lot of change, he’s still a happy, resilient guy who just wants a cozy lap to curl up in. He and his sister are so sweet but don't appear too attached, per the Texas shelter. So while they don’t need to be adopted together, we’d love to see them both find homes where they’ll be cherished. If you’re looking for a small, loyal friend with a big heart, Scooter might be the perfect pup for you! Like most Yorkies, Scooter has a beautiful, silky coat that will benefit from regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best. His petite size and loyal demeanor make him perfect for cozy moments and exciting adventures alike. With any rescue dog, moving from a shelter to a foster to an adoptive home can be very confusing. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time would be perfect home for Scooter. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs is a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. Given the time and space, these dogs shine. Scooter is up to date on his vaccines, heartworm negative, and neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption.
