Story
Meet Jake Jake is a handsome young mountain cur / retriever mix. Sadly, our Jake has been with us over a year now, which is way too long! Jake LOVES people. He is happiest when he can be with them. His eyes shine and he smiles. His body gets all wiggly in anticipation of pets or a game of fetch. This little guy is incredibly sweet and affectionate. Jake has a beautiful soft coat. He’s a medium size dog, currently weighing 50 pounds. He walks well on a leash. He loves playing in the yards and a containment fence will be important for him. He loves retrieving a tennis ball and would play all day if he could. He is energetic and is eager to be out and about hiking, walking, running or riding in a car. That said he has a calm and mindful demeanor. He is a super smart. He knows some basic commands and we think he is house-trained. Jake is looking for his special person or family to bond with. This young handsome doggo is amazing and deserves a second chance at a loving life. Jake will thrive in a home environment. The quiet and consistency of a real home will do wonders for him. Jake does not like other dogs or kitties though, so will need to be an only pet. Story
Someone dumped Buddy on Christmas Day 2018 on Hunters Mill, Liberty because the shelters were closed. I took him to the sheriffs office and they took him to the shelter the next day. He was adoped and they had him treated for heartworms. He ended up back in the shelter & we rescued him again. Buddy has had heartworms, his back has been broken, arthritus in back & needs medication. He also needs a medical dental & needs help with a bad toenail. My grandaughter left him when she moved two weeks ago. I am moving to NC and renting until I buy a house & cannot take him.

Meet Riley Riley girl is a beautiful female Plott Hound Brindle Mix about 40-45 pounds. She has silky longer hair is just gorgeous! She's very athletic and just the perfect size. She has a beautiful silky brindle coat, loves to be in your lap and be loved on. She is about 2-4 years old. Riley has great manners because she went through the Colwell Probation Detention Center RESCUED Program where inmates get assigned a dog and train them. She knows commands, walks well on a leash and listens, how many dogs can say that! She is crate trained and housebroken and loves love! She does not like cats or chickens but does well with other dogs after an introduction. This beautiful and well behaved lady needs a home of her own! We love her dearly, but would love to see her have a home of her own to be spoiled in! Please consider adopting Riley! She does good with boy dogs not girls. She could befint form some more she pulls hared on leash, but knows how to sit for treats. she clams down really well. Story
There's a dog named Curly who was saved from being euthanized. Curly is currently very fearful and scared of his surroundings. However, we are committed to helping him overcome his fears, and we believe that given time, he will improve. Curly is particularly sensitive to noise, and a calm, quiet environment would be ideal for him. It's recommended that he be placed in a home without young children, but with a female dog to provide him with reassurance and support. Curly needs a patient and understanding owner who can help him build confidence and trust. Although he's frightened and hesitant to interact at the shelter, he is a sweet dog who longs for companionship and care. Additionally, Curly could benefit from a good brushing, but his fear prevents us from touching him. With the right approach, Curly has the potential to become a loving and affectionate companion in the future. Curly is very shy, he needs to be worked with but will take time for him to trust you. He is good a dog, He doesn't walk on a leash he will just stand there and look around until you take the leash off. He doesn't like to be petted due to how scared he is of people. Curly needs to go to a home with another dog to get out of his shell he likes both boys and girls. Curly will need someone who has a lot of time and patience to help him not be in fear for his life he is always nervous and on his toes about what is going on. He came to us about 3 months ago. He needs a good routine, he needs to know that he is safe. He will need a lot of work. we are not able to touch him. Curly is not aggressive at all but just very scared of every movement you make. he gets along with dogs and cats boys and girls. He is not fixed, but don't let that stop you from Giving him a chance that he has never had before. Curly needs to get out of here we can't do anything with him due to him being so scared he is treat motivated he will take a tread out of your hand but then he will run away and any little noise or movement will scare him he likes all dogs but gets nervous when they try to play with him because he doesn't know how to play. He needs a foster who can help him be very patient with him and not rush him with anything. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPRG/Dog
