Story
Seven was rescued from the streets as a 1 month old kitten. He's now 4 years old and is a very comfortable and sweet black cat. He's friendly with most people but may take a second to warm up. I'm happy to help in the transition period however I can. His photos really speak for themselves.

Story
Angel is more than just a cat—she’s a little piece of heaven. At 2 ½ years old and just 6.5 pounds, this petite beauty is half Persian and half Ragdoll, she is as delicate as she is devoted. Though she may be shy at first, once she warms up to you, she’ll follow you everywhere, showering you with love and affection. Angel has a gentle soul and a deep capacity for companionship. She thrives in a calm, loving environment where she can form a close bond with her human. She’s healthy, well-behaved, and simply looking for someone to love her as much as she’ll love you. It breaks my heart to part with her, but due to my partner’s allergies, I need to find her the perfect home—one where she’ll be cherished forever. If you’re looking for a sweet, devoted companion, Angel is ready to bring love and warmth into your life. If you’re interested in meeting Angel and giving her the home she deserves, please reach out!

Story
These beautiful, wonderful 13-year-old cats belonged to the mother of my boss. She unfortunately now has to be given around-the-clock care in a facility, and is unable to bring her cats with her. These girls are a bonded pair, and are the sweetest. They haven’t been around children, so I cannot say with certainty how they would act, but they get along well with dogs. They are very calm and easygoing.

Story
Meet Nugget! A dashing four-year-old Domestic Short Hair from Roseville, CA, whose sleek black coat and mesmerizing green eyes make him a true heart-stealer. This medium-sized gentleman, weighing in at a healthy 15 pounds, is the perfect mix of spunky and sweet, with a touch of sass that will keep you endlessly entertained! Nugget is a playful spirit with a love for laser pointers, teaser wands, and anything infused with catnip. When he's not showing off his hunting skills during playtime, you'll find him perched by a window, chattering at birds or soaking up the sights of the world outside. He’s even harness-trained for outdoor adventures—though he’s still working on mastering his confidence. Nugget also adores watching “Cat TV” (squirrel and bird videos are his favorite) and relaxing to calming feline music. At the heart of Nugget’s charm is his affection. When he’s ready for love, he’ll pad over, climb onto your chest, and settle in for snuggles. During these moments, chin and ear scratches are mandatory, and if you’ve got a soft blanket nearby, he’ll reward you with the cutest biscuit-making performance! Nugget even enjoys being held like a baby—talk about a cuddle pro! While Nugget thrives on human companionship, he prefers a single-cat home where he can embrace his “bachelor lifestyle.” He’s lived harmoniously with a dog in the past, so canine friends might be a welcome possibility. Nugget is microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. However, he has Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), which requires a prescription diet and daily medication (happily taken in salmon-flavored Pill Pockets!). His new caregiver will need to continue this regimen to keep him happy and healthy. Are you ready to welcome a charming, chatty, and snuggle-loving companion into your life? Nugget is waiting to meet you and start a new chapter filled with love and laughter. Could your home be the perfect place for this handsome fellow? Contact us at adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Nugget and his unique story!

Story
Meet Blue! A lively two-year-old Domestic Shorthair from Las Vegas, NV, whose bold personality shines as bright as his sleek blue-gray coat. This charismatic feline is the life of the party, always ready to engage, explore, and soak up all the attention he can get. If you're looking for a cat who brings energy, charm, and a touch of mischief into your home, Blue might just be your perfect match! Blue is a social butterfly who thrives on interaction with his favorite humans. Whether he's playfully chasing after tiny objects he’s "discovered" on the floor or trilling excitedly when it’s time for his beloved wet food, he keeps life entertaining. His curious nature means he’s always investigating, always moving, and always on the lookout for his next adventure. He’s an affectionate companion, happy to shower his pet parent with love, but he’s also confident and knows exactly what he wants—preferably your undivided attention and plenty of playtime. While Blue adores people, he prefers to be the one and only cat in his home. As an alpha male, he enjoys ruling his domain and isn’t too keen on sharing his space with other felines. His ideal home is one where he can be the center of attention, engaging in interactive play and soaking up the affection of a dedicated pet parent. He’s an indoor-only cat, and given his high-energy personality, he’d do best in a home where he won’t be left alone for long periods. This handsome boy is in great health, up-to-date on vaccinations, and neutered. His tipped ear is a little reminder of his past, but it only adds to his unique charm. Blue is ready to bring his playful spirit, endless curiosity, and affectionate nature into a new loving home. Could he be the perfect fit for you? He may need some time to adjust—he’s known to hide and vocalize during his first days—but with patience and love, he’ll come out of his shell and shine! If you're ready for an energetic, social companion who will keep you on your toes and fill your home with laughter, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com and make Blue a part of your family today!

Story
Meet Teddy , an incredibly sweet and playful cat who is ready for his forever home! Teddy is a spry young man who loves jumping around in his tunnel, chasing the elusive red dot of his laser pointer, and zooming around to play with his mouse toys! He loves any toy that he is introduced to and will happily play independently or with the people in his home! When he isnt indulging in playtime, Teddy is an absolute love bug. He enjoys curling up with his humans and shows affection to any person lucky enough to spend time with him! Wherever his humans are, that is where Teddy wants to be too! He even likes to be scooped up and held like a baby (aww!) - If you are looking for the perfect balance of playful and cuddly all wrapped up into an adorable kitty package, Teddy is your guy! Because Teddy is both playful and respectful, he would probably do best in a household with another playful cat or with pet parents who are willing to give him the time and attention he needs to be his happiest self. Vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies. FeLV / FIV negative, neutered, and microchipped. To apply for Teddy, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the animal is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable cat, or final size of any of our adoptable kittens. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the cat into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2351237##

Adopting a Munchkin

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Munchkin - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

The discussion about whether it is cruel to have a Munchkin cat revolves around ethical concerns related to their short legs. Opponents argue that deliberately breeding cats for short legs might contribute to potential health issues and compromise their mobility. Proponents, however, argue that Munchkins lead fulfilling lives and adapt well despite their unique anatomy. The debate hinges on responsible breeding practices, ethical considerations, and providing proper care to ensure the well-being of Munchkin cats.

The easiest way to buy a Munchkin would be through a rescue that specializes in Munchkins. A great place to start would be by starting a breed search on Adopt a Pet. The search will show you all the available Munchkins in your area.

It’s important to note the potential ethical concerns and health issues before buying a Munchkin cat. The breed’s unique short-legged trait is a result of a genetic mutation that could lead to skeletal problems in some cats. Those seeking to adopt or buy a Munchkin cat should consider the potential ethical implications of supporting breeds that have specific physical characteristics that may cause health concerns or other challenges.

It costs around $75 to $100 to adopt a Munchkin cat. Conversely, Munchkin cats from a breeder can be extremely expensive and may fall in the $1,000 to $2,300 range.

Munchkin fun facts

Fun Facts:

Legend has it that this breed owes his unique look to an unlikely pairing between a dachshund and a cat. Not possible, but still a fun idea.

Munchkins have not exhibited any of the spinal problems that are common in short-legged dog breeds such as Corgis and Dachshunds.

The Munchkin's interesting form is thanks to an autosomal dominant gene that causes the cat's bones to grow shorter than normal. Mating two Munchkin breeds together is fatal to the litter.
