Story
We are moving out of the country at the end of the year. Scooby is a large (65 pounds) 5 year old mixed breed neutered boy. He is the sweetest guy. He loves people, he loves other dogs and he has lived with a cat since he was adopted. When he is outside he is energetic and friendly, when he is home he is relaxed and mellow and likes to sleep a lot. He is smart and affectionate. He knows all of the standard commands and has great recall as well as being whistle trained. He is also trained to only bark when someone steps on to our house property. Scooby loves to be part of a pack, both dogs and humans, the more the better for him. He doesn’t like long rides in the car on the freeway, he doesn’t get carsick, but he finds it difficult to relax. And he’s not the type of dog that will casually sit on the patio of a restaurant while his owners eat brunch, this overstimulates him. What he does love is running and lazing in the sun. Scooby is healthy and up to date on all his vaccinations.

Story
Casey is a sweet and loyal dog with forever puppy energy. She loves being outdoors and her very favorite activity is swimming. She will swim for hours. She also likes retrieving objects or trash from the ocean and bringing them ashore. She is great off leash on hiking trails and loves playing fetch at the park. She is friendly with other dogs but people are her true love. She absolutely loves people. And food or treats. She is sweet and patient with our 18-month old as the toddler explores her boundaries and pulls on her ears and tail or pats her a little too hard. She loves exercise but doesn't need it as much as when she was a puppy; if she is stuck indoors she just sleeps or rests. We got Casey on the East Coast when she was about 6 months old. We have loved having her in our family but don't have the capacity and resources to care for her as much as we did before we had a human baby.

Story
We have had Marlow since he was about 9 months old. He is now 6 years old. It has been a struggle for us to make the decision to rehome him, but after having our first baby we know that there is a better situation out there for us all. Marlow is such a sweet, loving boy (such a snuggler!) but with a few quirks. He will need a special owner that can work on training and give him the exercise & dedication he needs! He has lived well with our cat and other dog but requires a slow introduction to other animals. In general, we consider him dog aggressive and do not socialize him with dogs he is unfamiliar with (but has been able to socialize with other family dogs that he knows). Marlow needs a kid free home as he has shown resource aggression with high reward treats (like a bully stick), and with his food bowl. This is ultimately why we feel he needs a new home, although up until this point he has shown only patience & love with babies/kids.

Story
Chance is a 10-year-old mix who came to Lily’s as a stray from Southern CA. Sweet Chance was found matted and dirty under a bush, looking for shelter from 100+ degree heat. He was blind in both eyes, covered in dreadlocks and emaciated. During his initial medical exam at Lily’s, it was discovered that Chance had detached retinas in both eyes that were causing him extreme pain and were beyond repair. Consequently, Chance needed to have both eyes removed. He is recovering amazingly and getting engrained into the Lily’s routine – working on going through the dog door, going out on daily walkabouts in the grassy corral and getting lots of cuddles! We believe that Chance’s blindness was somewhat new when we found him. We have introduced key words to help Chance navigate his newly dark world, pointing out “walls,” “steps” and more. We are continuing to learn more about Chance’s preferences and how to best communicate and bond with him. We are encouraged by the progress Chance has made and he will only continue to develop his senses to live a happy life with his new forever family. He will need humans that are willing to help him learn the ropes, providing lots of patience, love and encouragement!

Story
Chad is an active, sweet, goofy mixed breed boy. He was surrendered into my care due to his previous owner’s financial concerns, so he’s now looking for his forever family. He is trainable and lively, and would make an excellent hiking buddy. He settles well at home however and is content to hang out and watch TV. He’s trainable and eager to please. Chad is crate trained and is not vocal. He has no health concerns and is a young, happy, healthy boy. He will go to his new home neutered, dewormed and up to date on his core vaccinations.
