My 19 year old found her in a dumpster and brought her home. We do not have the time or Energy the care for her or train her. She is a very energetic dog and needs that love. She is good with other dogs, cats, & toddlers. She just loves to play. My son nor I are ever home so she is not getting to live her best life.

My sister was gifted Chanel back in 2013. We never found out what breed she was (although groomers think she is a maltichon). Chanel was welcomed into the family, and soon she became my grandmothers roommate. Chanel is very loving, but is a scaredy cat. A couple of years ago Chanel was bitten by fleas and we found out she is allergic to them. We were able to get her treated. However, it happened again and we have been unable to take her to get checked. I have moved out since I got married. It is too much care and money to get her checked. She’s still my grandmother’s roommate, but she is unable to drive nor is able to financially sustain her.

Story
Xena is a great pup. Shes a ball of energy and has nothing but love to give. Shes also a very anxious dog so she requires more attention than some. She's three years old. She needs someone who can give her daily attention and love. She loves walks and just running around. We would love to give her the attention she deserves, but we don't have the time. She deserves a loving home and someone who can spend all the time in the world with her.

Story
It is with such a heavy heart that we rehome our precious dog Natalie. She is just over 1 year-old and such a wonderful dog but just not a good fit for our family. We have a child with special needs and are not able to give her the care she needs. Positives: * She LOVES to play. She is very active and is the perfect jogging buddy, who loves going for hikes & visiting dog parks. She is friendly & fun & does well on long car rides. * She is very smart and loves learning tricks. She knows how to sit, lay down, shake, stay, etc. * She is crate-trained & sleeps in her kennel through the night. * She does well with baths & nailclipping. * She is protective over her people & home and will alert us if anyone comes near but is not yappy or loud. Challenges: She is VERY active & can be a bit much for anyone with younger children in the home. She has herding instincts & will playfully round up little ones in the yard. She requires a lot of exercise & attention or a dog friend.

This dog was found in our neighborhood around the middle of May. We posted his picture on social media looking for his family, but never heard from anyone. We brought him in at the end of May to keep him out of the heat while we continued to find his family or a new home. We are not sure of his age. He is not a puppy, but does seem young. He loves to run around and play with tennis balls and sticks. He is good with my 4 kids, but does jump occasionally.

Meet Dutch Say hello to Dutch! Dutch is a handsome Chihuahua / Dachshund (“Chiweenie”) mix who is approximately 4 - 4.5 years old and weighs 17 pounds. This sweet guy was found as a stray in south Texas near the border of Mexico. We aren’t sure how he found himself in that situation, but all of that is behind him now! He is just the nicest dog with the most wonderful disposition. Dutch has a great personality and loves everyone he meets. He is small, mighty and is eager to make new friends! He LOVES playing with his toys and gets along well with the other dogs in his play group here at the rescue. He has puppies and some youngsters in his group and loves to romp around with them. He is truly a happy, playful dog with a lot of love to share. He will be a loving and loyal companion, ready to go on a walk to explore the neighborhood or just curl up next to you on the couch to watch a movie. We just love this little bundle of personality and can’t wait for him to find his forever home! Dutch is located at our rescue in Hondo, Texas. Adoption fee is $325 a meet and greet can be scheduled with a approved application. *Dutch tested positive for Chagas disease and has been on Dr Madigans protocol since October 2023 with zero complications! Dr Madigan recommends the treatment for one year, so he is more than half way through his treatment plan! This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. Meet Mitzi Meet sweet Mitzi! Mitzi is a sweet and tenderhearted dog who is about 2 years old and weighs 16 pounds. We rescued her from a shelter near the border of Mexico. She does have a warm-up period when meeting new people. Once she knows you will be kind to her, she loves to get attention and affection. Coming from the environment she was in previously, it is apparent that she wasn’t handled very much so she just needs time to trust and know that she is in a safe space. She gets along well with the other dogs at the rescue. She would do best in a calm and patient home without small children where she can acclimate to her new surroundings and learn to trust. She is a wonderful dog who just wants a family to call her own! Mitzi is at our rescue near San Antonio and a meet and greet can be arranged with an approved application. Meet Celia Celia is about 10 months old, weighs 16 pounds and is a typical happy, playful puppy! She looks like a Chiweenie and Dachshund mix. She is very sweet, friendly and as you can see in the video, enjoys cuddles and kisses. She was rescued from a shelter near the border of Mexico. We are so happy she is now safe with us. We can see Celia doing well in just about any home a home. She just wants attention and playtime with her forever family. She is curious and also enjoys being held. She has a fun personality and in true terrier fashion, she is very smart. She enjoys playing with her toys and with her playgroup.
