Story
Meet Cuddly Petey - Petey is about 4 months old and weighs about 18 lbs. The previous owners said he was an Elkhound mix (we do not have proof of this). Petey is a smart puppy who is curious and playful. Petey is great with other dogs and loves all people. We have no idea how he is with cats. Young puppies will require an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day to continue training - no exceptions! This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and microchipped. This puppy will need to be neutered at 6 months of age. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Celine and her siblings have been raised outside in a farm setting around chickens, horses, goats and cats. They have also done well around other dogs and children. Celine likes to explore the most out of her siblings and plays hide and seek. Basic training and socialization will be needed as they learn how to walk on leash and enjoy doing things with their new family. Can you give her that loving family environment so she can be a well rounded loving adult?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 11, 2024, 7:21 pm

Story
This beautiful girl named Bright Star, needs a do-over for her Elkhound life and Critter Cavalry Rescue is determined to find that special Elkie loving person or family! This young girl is only 3 years old and she is too timid and just a little too heavy at 68lbs,  to play the way a young dog should.  At her age she should be romping and running and delighting in life on a Spring or Summer day.  Bright Star is a pure bred Norwegian Elkhound who  was removed from a breeding farm in rural Tennessee.  Her formative years were spent living in an outdoor kennel without any socialization, playtime or the comfort of a heated or cooled environment inside. She is beginning to enjoy her freedom at her foster home in New England She’s moving around with greater agility and is enjoying barking along with her foster siblings.  She is learning to be an effective Guardian of the yard when she thinks intruders might be lurking!  An important job to a Norwegian Elkhound.   When she’s relaxed, Bright Star displays that wonderful Elkie smile and tightly curled up tail. She is just an easy girl to include in the pack of dogs that the foster mom owns, of which one is an Elkie who was rescued from the same breeder farm by Critter Cavalry Rescue.   She gets along well with other dogs and is beginning to show interest in people, as she has been standoffish the first week of escaping the breeder farm.   She is a curious girl who is gradually braving exploration her new surroundings and she seems to have house-trained herself. Bravo to this smart girl.  We have delighted in watching Bright Star  come out of her shell and she continues to do so, it should be an amazing experience for whomever adopts her.  It will be important to continue to monitor her food intake to help this stunning angel enjoy the life she deserves and achieve a more normal weight!!  If you are interested in making this girl’s dream come true with a forever home and heart to love her, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 14, 2024, 9:01 pm

Story
PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - TOBY BREED - Elkhound mix SIZE - About 30 pounds AGE - Born July 2023 GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - Vision impaired BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Toby is a lovely puppy that is a joy to be with! Not only is he adorable, but he is super sweet and very playful. Toby and his litter mates came to us recently from a NC shelter where they had been surrendered by their owner, likely due to their vision impairment. All three are lovely, older pups, and will be wonderful companions to their adoptive families. Toby will likely be 30-35 pounds when fully grown and he is a perfect size for most homes! He is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. We are seeking a home with an adopter who has the ability to work from home or otherwise able to spend a good part of each day with this sweet boy. A home with a fenced, secure yard will give Toby room to run and play safely with his new family. Toby may not be well suited to small children or very small dogs who could be upset by his enthusiasm, but will fit nicely into many other homes. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Toby as well as our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with your family and Toby at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.

Story
Gregarious Gail, as we call her, is just 21 months old and is a true beauty of a pure bred Norwegian Elkhound.  She possesses all the wonderful traits through and through. Gail is a special girl because as a puppy she had an infection that caused her to lose her tail and two toes on her back feet.  She is so cute with the shorter tail and it hasn't slowed her down a bit. In fact, Gail is a very active and athletic lady who can jump, run, spin and play.  Gail hasn't had much of a start in life and she deserves much more.   She is outgoing and very sweet and just a touch shy at first when she meets new people and new situations.  Critter Cavalry rescued her an overwhelmed Elkhound breeder and has promised this loving, loyal and friendly girl, to give her a family that will recognize her special bright spirit.  She gets along well with others and goodness just look at that beautiful face. She is going to make some person or family so very happy.  This rare breed is known for being extremely loyal, intelligent and sensitive.    If you are interested in owning a breed that is fast becoming rare in the U.S. then please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   She is ready for a fresh new start to her young life. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 14, 2024, 9:01 pm
