Story
Introducing Peach! Age: 2 years Gender: Female Weight: 22 lbs  Breed: Portuguese Podengo mix Good with dogs: Yes! Good with kids: Yes! Good with cats: Not yet tested. Temperament/Personality: Peach is pure sweetness, exceptionally loving and affectionate with her humans. She likes relaxing next to her person when she wants some quiet time. She can be reserved when meeting strangers, needing a bit of time to assess new people. She is not an excessive barker but she will alert you when someone is at the door. Peach is highly intelligent and thrives with mental stimulation in the form of training. She is family-oriented and would be fantastic in a home with kids & other dogs. Resource guarding: No. Barky/noisy: Not excessive. Generally only barks when someone rings the doorbell. Energy level: Medium-high. Although Peach very much likes her leisurely down time, she equally loves outdoor adventures. She will be a great companion for someone who enjoys getting outside, walking daily, and engaging in playtime with their doggie. Good on leash: Yes, she is comfortable walking on the leash. House trained: Yes, at her foster home she is fully house trained and knows exactly where to do her business. She is a fast learner and really enjoys time spent training & learning. Crate trained: Yes. Separation anxiety: She is currently living with multiple other dogs, so even when her humans leave the house, she is in the company of canine friends. She is calm and relaxed when her people go out. Sleep: She sleeps on her blanket in the main living area of her foster home. Ideal Home: Peach will make an excellent companion for a person/family looking for a balance of activity & playfulness along with quiet evenings filled with cuddles & relaxation. She would do great in a home with kids or other dogs as she likes the company of fur siblings. Peach can live in an apartment with an adequate amount of exercise. Rescue History: Peach seems to have come from a family home as she has many characteristics of a well-rounded family pet. She was found wandering in low income area of Guadalajara, were many dogs are sadly abandoned by their owners. When she was rescued, it was obvious she was not a "street dog" based on her demeanour and not having the typical traits of a street-savvy dog who is used to navigating the world alone. VETTING:   Fully vaccinated.  Spayed.  Dewormed.  SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma).  Distemper negative.  Flea/tick/heartworm prevention. No known medical issues/injuries.   PLEASE NOTE: Peach is currently in Mexico. There will be a $235 fee for transportation to BC. This will be discussed upon approval. ##2180777##

Story
Would you be my Angel? DODIE You will find me an incredibly sweet-natured dog. I am a Chihuahua/Spitz mix, about 7 yrs old. I stand 16 inches at the shoulder and weigh 30 lbs.  It is unknown what originally happened to me, but due to a broken back my back legs are paralyzed. I have an awesome wheelchair that I LOVE to zip around in (especially outside!) and I'm a great walking companion. Currently, I take two 30 min walks a day which seems ideal for me. When I'm out on walks people seem to be amazed by me; my legs may be damaged but my spirit isn't! Many want to pet me (which is awesome) and they tell my foster mom what an angel she is for taking care of me. My foster mom thinks I'm a special girl and worthy of lots of love, for which I'm forever grateful. I would just love an angel to give me a home of my own forever. I walk at a steady pace. I even get a little zoomie energy and like to have a bit of a run, especially if one of those pesky squirrels are about! Otherwise, I like to take time to sniff the flowers, look up at the birds flying overhead and check out if there are any humans willing to pet me. If I get a little distracted, a little bit of encouragement is all I need to continue. I do like to nap a lot during the day or watch out of the window to see who is out and about. My green frog toy is my favourite thing, and will cuddle up with him to go to sleep at night in my 'play pen'. I LOVE snuggling on the sofa and will ask you to scratch my ears as I can't quite do it myself. I love playing with other dogs at the dog park and in the neighbourhood but I prefer to be with just my human when I'm at home. I tend to ignore cats as long as they don`t bother me. Kids are especially fun if they are old enough to know how to treat me well and give me lots of pets. I am extremely adaptable and very trusting right off the bat, which is rare in a dog that has been through so much! My past is still a mystery, but spending some time in Canada has already opened up my world.  I am so happy to be healthy and am trying to shed a little weight. I've heard my face is adorable and I can make humans laugh with my little pig-like snorts when I stretch. Yup, I'm really quite the character! Ok, I do sometimes snore... but it is the cutest thing ever. With my health in-check, I'm now learning about toys and how much fun they are: https://youtu.be/-KBzykd_RF0. My two main ways of moving myself around, (and I must say I'm pretty darn good at it!) are either dragging on my side/hip or pulling myself forwards in a sort of 'hopping' motion with my legs behind me. I can get some serious speed this way! I like having some rugs to walk on as it can be hard to get a grip on slippy floors. Also, how many dogs do you know that come with their own wheels?! I do...and wow, can I cover ground when I'm rolling down the sidewalk or grass! It would be nice (but not essential) if I had a yard, or at least some safe space/grass, for me to maneuver outside out of my wheelchair. I am able to toilet independently when in motion, I'd love to have access to a safe space to roam. My foster mom currently toilets me frequently during the day to avoid accidents; I am getting much better at letting her know when I need to go. We have a pretty good routine and with your support my infrequent accidents can be managed/avoided. My current foster mom will fill you in on how marvelous I am and how easy it is to guide me through my daily routines. If you want a spunky small gal with a zest for life and an infectious optimism, I'm the one for you! I would LOVE to meet you!! I have been spayed and am currently vaccinated & micro-chipped.My adoption fee is by donation. Story
Hi there, my name is Frennie and I am a fun, loving blind girlie looking for my next forever home! Though I am completely blind, I am semi independent and I LOVE to learn! Here is a little info about me:Breed: Pug/Jack Russel MixAge: 6 years oldGender: FemaleWeight: 9 kgHeight: 39 cmHighlight(s): I am very passionate about life, eager to learn, kind to my people and semi independent!, blind.Hello Beautiful Humans, My name is Frennie. I am such a lovely girl but unfortunately my original family was not as in love with me as I was with them. I was very young when I saw them last. All I remember is that at approximately 1 years old they took me to the vet to get my eyes checked and abandoned me there. I guess not being able to see was hard on them too!The lovely humans at the vet where I was left contacted a shelter and the owner came and picked me up! They were so kind to give me a chance without even knowing me! I must be pretty special. After some time at the shelter, the owner was able to find me a beautiful foster that has cared for me for the past 5 years of my life. Since I am fully blind and small, I cannot be around other dogs, cats or kids as I am afraid something might happen to me. I prefer to be around adults only. So I am a perfect fit if you are either living on your own or with a partner! I am also a quick learner as you can see in my video! I learned how to go down the stairs like a champion and can maneuver around by using my senses! Energy Level: Low-moderateI get along with:Dogs: NoCats: NoKids: No Fears: I am completely blind and need a space that is calm and caring to make me feel safe.Training: Basic, I am a very smart girl - please keep teaching me so we can have a great life!Leash skills: No leash skills yet, however I am a quick learner!House trained: Yes!  Health notes: I am fully blind! Outside of that, I am a healthy happy girl.I have been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $600.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. While our rescuers always seek a flight without a charge, there is the possibility of a passenger fee, not to exceed $300. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs originally from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##2174557##

Story
Hiya. My name is CHIBI and here is a little info about me: Breed: Chihuahua mixAge: 8 yearsGender: FemaleWeight: 28-1/2 lbsHeight: 14-1/2 inCountry of origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlight(s): Obedient, courageous, confident, loving, silly Hello, humans! I’m so happy to meet you. My playful antics will keep you smiling. My life began with heartbreak, but I have shown incredible resilience. I was discovered abandoned in a dumpster during a rainstorm; cold, shivering, and severely malnourished. My rescuers found me with gashes along my body and brought me to safety just in time.At my age, I’ve already been through quite a journey, but thanks to my amazing rescuers, I’m healthy, spunky, and ready to find my forever home. I love massages and cuddles as well as being brushed (I make a purring sound) and can’t wait to meet my forever humans.Shortly after my rescue, it was revealed that I was pregnant. Tragically, due to my fragile state, my single puppy didn’t survive. Despite these hardships, I have never given up. With the dedicated care of my saviors, I have healed physically and emotionally, blossoming into the amazing dog I am today.Yes, you probably noticed I am a tad overweight. It's because my rescuers have a hard time withholding the treats from cute little me, after my difficult life. It would be good to trim me up a little. Then I can better reflect my name, which means 'tiny' in Japanese. I am not a picky eater, but eat small bits at a time. I can be a little feisty and am not afraid to stand my ground when I feel the need. I adore attention and might gently nudge other dogs out of the way to soak it all up. I love to sniff around and learn about my environment. I don’t like to be picked up suddenly from the floor, especially just under my belly. If you stroke me first, then lift up from a chair or sofa, and carry me gently, it's all good to be in your arms. Time trusting will likely alleviate this. My eyes can get cloudy (it’s like seeing things through a veil), but they periodically clear up. Possibly contact abrasion of the cornea, because I follow closely behind the other dogs’ wagging tails which hit me across the eyes. Just at that right height, I guess. When they give me antibiotics, CBD oil and omega-3 oil, my eyes clear up significantly. When I no longer have to navigate through a pack of tails, surely my vision will improve. Also, I may have allergies to some of the plants on the property, or to dust, which contribute to eye redness. Now however, I am thriving. I've made friends with other dogs in here in care and am ready to leave my troubled past behind for a brighter future filled with love and stability. Some of my loves you ask? Chicken, giblets. sardines, cheese, cooked veggies (especially carrots) and soft music. Added vid at vet: https://youtube.com/shorts/ufddrbKdEuw?feature=share. Health notes: My eyes can get cloudy at times, but supplements help clesr them.I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.
