Macadamia is a 1 ½-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality packed into a tiny frame! This sweet and affectionate little pup bonds quickly with her person and loves to be by your side—literally. This spunky and active pup is always on the move—until you sit down, and then she’s ready to settle in for snuggles. She absolutely loves toys, enjoys playing fetch, and is a fan of chewing on bones and antlers. She’s also very food-motivated, which makes training a breeze! She’s already working on commands and has almost mastered `sit.`Macadamia does well in a crate when left alone, but she’s still working on housebreaking. Right now, she’s pee pad trained and isn’t a fan of going outside—especially in cold weather! As the temperatures rise, we think she’ll get more comfortable exploring the outdoors. She would do best in a home with a submissive and tolerant small dog companion, as she has a dominant streak and isn’t afraid to take on bigger dogs. She can also be a little protective of her person, so continued training and correction will be important. Because of her tendency to be underfoot and guard her person, Macadamia requires an adult only home. Macadamia is still learning about the world, including how to walk on a leash and how to settle in the car—a crate or seatbelt harness is recommended for car rides. She’s a little dog with a big heart and an even bigger personality, looking for a patient and loving family to help her continue growing into the best version of herself. Happy spring from little Penny. Penny is a female chihuahua that weighs 14 pounds. She is 4 years old. She came to the shelter as an owner surrender. It was a heartbreaking decision for Penny’s owner to surrender her to us. However, we have promised both Penny and Penny’s former owner that we will find the best home for Penny. Penny was originally adopted from a hurricane rescue group. Penny is crate trained and housetrained and will even use pee pads in the house. She loves to play with toys and nylabones. Penny is a very well-behaved dog that lived in an apartment. She is vocal though. Just something to keep in mind. The previous owner reports that even though Penny is a little dog, she is a great watch dog. Being a typical chihuahua, she thinks she is a big dog. Penny is cat and dog friendly. As always, a meet and greet with any resident canine is required. Penny walks well on leash, is a snuggler, and has lots of energy. Penny has chicken allergies. She has been fed Redford Natural Salmon food. Penny is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster her in your home until she finished her vetting which includes vaccines, microchip and heartworm testing. She is already spayed. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Penny. Penny’s adoption fee is $200.
