Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving on 1/31/25 to NorCal and OR. Surrounding states will be added to our route if needed ☺️ We would love to add Gracie to our trip for the right home 💕
Meet Gracie! She is a purebred, sable colored, Pomeranian. She turns 2 on May 3rd of 2025. She weighs 6.7 lbs. Yes, she is full grown and at a very healthy weight. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, and has been thourely examined by our vet whom has cleared him to find a home all her own ❤️
She is house trained, but as with all of our small dogs her size they are always accompanied outside due to the wildlife we have here so we have a schedule set up throughout the day to take them outside to use the restroom. Having a good schedule in your home will be ideal for her as well as that's what she is currently used to 😊
She is crate trained, and currently sleeps in a crate at night without any fuss at all. She is very easy going, and mellow whcih has made crate training very easy with her. If you need to step out of the home for any reason, or want her to continue to sleep in the crate at night then it has definitely been a place of comfort and peace for her so it'll make leaving her home very simple when you need to especially in the beginning until she settles into her new life with you eventually making the crate obsolete if you wish.
Leash training is somewhat new. Her prior owners lived in an apartment complex and aside from their small patio, she never really left home. Coming here we have introduced the leash, but she isn't quite sure what to think about it just yet, but in time we are confident she will master it ❤️
She is wonderful with all dogs, and cats alike. However, she truly loves being with her person. If you do not have other dogs in the home, she will be fine with that as long as she has her person. She is not high energy or high maintenance and will peacefully nap away from her person during the day if she can't be with them. She is very quiet, and doesn't bark at all. She is calm natured and very serene tempered.
She is a lover! Loves to snuggle, and will lay her head on your chest, or into your arms. She is such an absolute sweetheart and truly just wants to be loved. She is very affectionate and doesn't require much to be happy at all, so keeping her little heart full isn't much of a task at all ☺️
While I LOVE talking about all of the wonderful and amazing attributes our dogs have, I must also share what needs to be worked with so that they are successful in their next home. Gracie has had bad experiences at both her prior vet, and groomers before coming to us here that has left her absolutely terrified of them (especially the vets staff.) The moment any type of medical equipment comes out and near her she goes completely hysterical and becomes completely non cooperative. The groomers, while she is okay with bathtime, blow drying, and brushing (for the most part,) she does not like the scissors (when in sight of her) so scissoring anything around her face, or front paws can be an obstacle and one that will need to be worked with. She will need a very patient groomer moving forward who will take the time to really regain her trust from whatever she experienced before, along with a caring vet and staff who will understand that her extreme dislike of their "instruments" is not a personal attack on them or their character. She is such a sweet dog, and so very special and one that is worth having a team working with her new owner (in and out of the home) to help rebuild what others broke ❤️🩹
Now, with all that said!!! She is AMAZING with people. Men, women, and children alike. She truly is the SWEETEST, most loving and beautifully tempered girl outside of the vets and groomers. She snuggled with my groomer for most of the time she was there with her after she was all done with her, as she knew it had nothing to do with her and that she just needed reassurance she was safe and in good hands ❤️
Gracie is going to make an exceptional companion to someone; we just need that someone to be patient; kind, and understanding to her overall needs moving forward so she can continue flourishing in and out of the home ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Her prior owners were moving and could only take one pet with them. They already had a senior dog that they couldn't part with, and felt with Gracie being young she would adapt much better in a new home than their senior would have so they contacted us to take her in and find her another great home.
Her adoption fee is on our website at the very bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/gracie
It covers all vet costs, the care associated in the time she has been here with us, her grooming costs, along with her continued training and socialization we have been working with her on 💕
