Meet Ginger, a 15-pound, 4 year old bundle of love who’s ready to find her forever home! She is believed to be a Pug / Chihuahua mix.
Ginger was picked up as a stray in Texas during a cold spell, but despite her tough start, she remains as friendly and warm-hearted as can be. No one came to reclaim her, so now she’s on a journey to find a family that will cherish her forever.
Ginger has the sweetest personality - she is gentle, loves to give kisses, even if she just met you, and is just so so sweet. Here is what her foster had to say about her:
From foster:

"Ginger is settling into the home beautifully and showing her sweet, loving personality! She’s a super cuddly girl who just wants to be close to her people—She is my little shadow, always following me from room to room. She’s also proving to be well-mannered, fully house-trained (only one accident so far on day 1!), and even knows some commands like “down” and has pretty good recall when not distracted.
While she’s still a bit nervous on a leash, she absolutely loves running around the backyard, playing a bit of fetch, and getting the zoomies—it's adorable to watch! She’s also very comfortable in her crate and will go in on her own for naps.
Ginger seems to have had some training and love in her past, and I think she was well loved at one point."

This little lady is as gentle and adaptable as they come—great with people, kids, (only tested with kids 12 and up) and other dogs. Whether you’re looking for a walking buddy, a cuddle partner, or a playful friend for your pup, Ginger will fit right in.
A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young dog whose self-esteem will fly high while she masters her skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice.
Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.
Our training requirement is to help every adoption be successful.
Ginger has been fully vetted, is up to date on her vaccines, and spayed.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
