Story
NEWBIE ALERT!! Shelby will turn 8 years old on Halloween this year. She’s a shy girl and takes time to warm up. She loves to cuddle and be lazy. She’s a sweet girl who loves hard. She’s so fun. She loves to play with a squeaky toy and throw it around. She will sit, stand, and speak. She loves treats. In the winter she wears her sweaters and pajamas because she gets cold. She does have anxiety and is currently on medication for it. She would do well in a home where people can be there a lot for her to comfort her. She is terrified of loud noises, especially thunderstorms and fireworks. During these times she is comforted by cuddles. She would be best in an older calmer home. She is in a home with a dog but definitely would do best as the only pup. She seems to be okay with cats, but hasn’t lived with one in 4 years. She did fine when she did. She is such a sweet girl and deserves a home who can give her the time and comfort she needs. Sweet Shelby is fully vetted, altered and ready for a home to call her own!  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you! Story
NEWBIE ALERT!! Hi! My name is Roxy, and I am a wonderful, affectionate, loving terrier. I am very smart, playful, and love to cuddle. I'm good with other dogs,  love kids, and do great with anyone! They don't have cats, so I don't know how I do with them. I love to be inside and laying on the bed or couch next to you. When I need to go outside, I will let you know by going to the door and whining. If you have a fenced-in yard, I can go out by myself. I will potty, run, get some energy out, and then come back to the door to let you know I'm ready to come back in.  If you dont have a fenced-in yard, then im good on a leash and get excited when i know you're taking me out. I will sit there patiently and wait. I'm a very good girl. I want to be happy, joyful, and loving.  I love all people! Here is a little bit of how i got into this situation.  I was found on the side of the road on a very hot day outside. I was very hot,  tired, my feet was hot from the black road, and I was whining. These nice people picked me up and took me to their home. They gave me water and let me cool off and stay there. They tried finding my family by going door to door in several neighborhoods in the area. Then, the following Monday called the vet that was listed on my rabies tag. Even trying all this, my family couldn't be found. Now this nice family is letting me crash here at their place till I can find a new forever home. Story
UPDATE!! Three weeks ago,  these teeny babies were dumped at a local Overcrowded shelter without their mom. They were 3-4 weeks old and not even 2 lbs and severely dehydrated. We worked with another group and finally secured a foster and got them to safety. They now are in foster care and doing much better. They have been battling coccidia and upper respiratory infections but hopefully we are finally on the mend. They are small-medium mix breed. They are around 7 ish weeks now and just at 2.5 ish lbs and will be ready in a few weeks once they can have their second round of vaccines and they are altered.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Story
Richie is a 20 pound lively and lovable 2-year-old Jack Russell mix with an abundance of energy and a zest for life. This playful pup is always ready for an adventure, whether it's a brisk walk in the park, a game of fetch in the backyard, or simply exploring new scents on a trail. Richie's joyful spirit is contagious. He loves to play and is always on the lookout for a fun activity. Despite his high energy levels, Richie also has a sweet side. He enjoys cuddling up after a day of play and will happily snuggle with you on the couch. Richie gets along well with other dogs and is always eager to make new friends, both canine and human. Richie is looking for an active family who can keep up with his playful nature. A home with a tall fenced yard would be ideal for him to run and play safely as he can climb low fences He would thrive in an environment where he gets plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Richie is also a quick learner and would benefit from continued training to keep his smart mind engaged. Richie is in low positive for heartworms and is currently on monthly slow kill treatment. He is up to date on all vaccinations, and has been neutered and chipped. He's ready to join a loving home where he can continue to thrive and bring joy to his new family. If you’re searching for a furry friend who will bring endless laughter, love, and loyalty into your life, Richie is the perfect match.
