Story
Meet Alfie! He is a 2.5 year old small Rat Terrier/Dachshund mix at about 18 lbs. He is cuddly, playful, and timid. If you are looking for a cuddle bug best friend who is going to chill with you at home, burrow under blankets, and be a true companion and family member to you, he may be your boy. Alfie was adopted from Wayside Waifs 1 year and 2 months ago. When adopting, he was fearful of people and animals. He was rescued from a hoarder situation. We have since trained and he has made great progress! However my pregnancy has brought out unpredictable resource guarding, over me. He has become aggressive unpredictably towards strangers when I am around. Alfie is not a social dog. He is still fearful of other animals, living with pets and children are a NO. The ideal parent(s) for Alfie would be a single adult, or adult couple who is childless and plan to be. Unfortunately this is why we are looking for his new home. Our old lifestyle was perfect for him but not anymore.

We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption. Meet Tiny Wiley! A 5-7 year old terrier mix looking for his forever home! Wiley was rescued from a horrific hoarding house/ neglect situation. He and many other dogs were left abandoned in a small trailer home with no food or water and were living in mountains of trash. They nearly starved to death, luckily we were called to the scene and got them out in time. Wiley was one of the few dogs chained up to the outside of the trailer, we were told by people nearby he had been on his chain the majority of his life. Despite this, Wiley is an an absolute sweetheart, and is soaking up every bit of his new life at the rescue. He loves his cozy bed, and tucks himself under his blankets at night. He loves walks and afterwords to snuggle on the couch with his caretakers.  Wiley appears bigger in photos for some reason, he is only about 25 lbs. (small terrier size) He would be totally fine in an apartment or smaller home setting. Wiley would also make a perfect adventure buddy because he's travel sized!August 19, 2024, 12:37 pm
