This is Zito! Zito is a 10-year-old, male, Rat Terrier mix who weighs 15 lbs. This little man came to us after being picked up as a stray. Zito is a friendly, outgoing fellow who enjoys walks. He’s got a ton of pep in his step! He also enjoys sitting on volunteers’ laps and receiving gentle pets. Zito has exhibited some signs of resource guarding, especially when he gets overly excited around toys. He is also sometimes sensitive to being touched on his hind quarters. We did give him a bath and he did fine, though, so he is generally okay with being touched and even carried. Because of the resource guarding, Zito would do best in a home with adults and older, responsible children (12+) who understand dog body language. G Man is really what we call "extra needs". As our vet said when G was examined "what a trainwreck". Upon intake, G Man had no fur on his legs and they were covered in sores. He also was having rectal prolapses frequently, not to mention some stinky breath and skin. With some awesome vet care, medicated baths, oral meds and surgery, he has morphed into quite the handsome and quirky guy that he is today. G does require daily meds for his skin (about $35 per month ) and weekly baths with a medicated shampoo. He does experience bouts of constipation but he has meds for that also. G Man is tolerant of other dogs his size, but is terrified of puppies and larger dogs. He is most comfortable sitting/sleeping beside or on top of his human. His whole world will revolve around his person and when he lays his head against your chest and at you with his eyes, you know that you are deeply loved by him! Allow me to introduce Hailie! This precious girl is as sweet as they come. This baby was dumped with 2 other male pups who seemed younger than her. At the time, we assumed she was their young mother because of the way she was caring for them. When we pulled up to get them, she ran up to us like she knew we were going to help. We tried to put her in the truck and she wouldn't go because she was concerned we weren't going to take the little boys. We had to leash her and have her walk with us to get them. She laid on them to keep them warm. When we put them in a crate, she stuck her head inside to make sure they were ok. We loaded everyone in the car and she checked again to make sure we had them. After getting them to the vet, we learned that she isn't much older than them and she has never had pups. She's just a total sweetheart and cared deeply for the little ones safety. We are so grateful they didn't freeze to death and we had an AMAZING family step up to foster her. Hailie is now spayed, current on vaccines and preventions, she is microchipped and comes with a special geo tag! She is around 9 months old and weighs 16lbs.
