Story
Honey is a hound mix who turns 1 year old in May. She is around 50lbs and may get to be 60 to 65lb when fully grown. She loves to play ball but also just wants that human interaction by sitting by your side or rolling over for belly rubs. She has had some basic training but needs to be practiced daily. She has been spayed and UTD on shots. She needs to get out of the shelter so she can learn what family life in a home is like, she is being fostered. She is a fun girl and would do well with a fenced in yard to run after the ball in. She does need some exercise as she is still a puppy with long legs. She is dog selective but her Foster has 3 male dogs.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ATTN: LE/Military Veterans!! Dirty Harry is ready for his forever home!! This nine month old pup is an incredible dog and would be perfect for a military veteran and his/her family. Harry should go to a family with older kids as well!! We have a number of military and LE personnel In our rescue and we are always very cautious with any of our rescue dogs to discuss or recommend whether a dog could be a service dog or an emotional support dog. We do not take that recommendation very lightly. But in this case we feel Harry is exceptional and we are putting the word out!! Harry is an extremely calm pup for his age and has an amazing temperament!! He absolutely loves all people, but especially men and older kids and is very in tune with his family. We honestly feel he is meant for something bigger than us and for someone very special. When Harry came to us, he was fairly dirty from being outside and he constantly submissive peed upon meeting new people. We were told the reason he was being given up was because left on his own during the day, with only the other dogs in the household for company, he was bored and was chasing the family’s chickens when they were away from the household. Harry was originally found abandoned with his hound mix mom. We believe he is also part Rhodesian Ridgeback. During his rescue intake evaluation, what we immediately noticed was his sweet disposition, his unique gentleness for such a young large pup, and his amazing soul searching eye contact. Although we do not doubt that there had been some mishaps in his past, we feel that it was much more a young pup being bored. With the love and attention given by one of our newest fosters Tara Bridges and her family, Harry has reached the confidence levels we so knew he could!! He easily integrated into their family with 2 larger dogs. If you would like this amazing dog to be an integral part of your life, please fill out an application for him at 4LuckyDogs.org Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 20, 2024, 9:41 am

Story
Hi-My name is Ryka and I'm a Diamond Dog. Please ask about the special perks that come with my adoption. I LIKE: treats more than toys but I love a good massage. Ear scratches and belly rubs are good too.I KNOW: I'm an excellent walker and I sit politely for a treat. I'm a little older now so with me you don't have to worry about your furniture or floors. I'm past all that crazy puppy stuff.IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR: someone mature with a calm nature, that's me!I AM SPECIAL BECAUSE: I like to sniff and explore but I will always come back to you for some love.SOMETHING ABOUT MY PAST: I have lived with other dogs but not kids, I think they like me though. In my previous home, I was trusted to be left alone and had free roam. I like the pool and beach but I don't like cats. I know how to give a high five too!

Story
Hello, my name is Cookie and I am a 10 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. If you're looking for a fun and playful pup, look no further! I love toys and I am crate trained. I am good with kids and people of all ages, however, I am easily excited by other dogs, and I may be best as the only dog in the household. I am a sweet and affectionate puppy with lots of energy. I love to play and run around, but I also love to cuddle up with my humans. I'm a smart girl who is crate trained and still working on potty training. I am in search of a forever home where I can be the center of attention. If you think you can give me a home filled with love and belly rubs, I promise to give you lots of kisses and be your best friend. For more information on how to adopt, please call the shelter to see if this pet is still available for adoption. Then come to the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 10:30-6 Tuesday – Friday and 10:30 – 4 on Saturday (closed 1-2 for lunch and the last Friday of every month).

Story
Tanner is looking for his FOREVER HOME! Tanner has quite the story to tell. He came into rescue in February of 2021. He was covered in bite wounds and extremely emaciated. Tanner was terrified of everything and everyone but he bonded with our foster coordinator. I saw his heart of gold and after a year of very little progress, I decided to keep him as my forever foster. Then the unimaginable happened and she was hit head on in a terrible car accident. Luckily her mom was able to take Tanner into her home, where he has done absolutely amazing. Her mom already has two dogs and all though she loves Tanner, she does not want a third dog as she’s never had a big dog. Now after a month in the hospital and rehab facility the foster coordinator Gina has made the hard decision that she is not the right home for Tanner. The accident has left her with over 20 broken bones and a long rehabilitation journey ahead. It will be 6 months before she will be walking again. Also, her youngest son was with her in the accident and spent 23 days in a coma. He will have over a year of recovery ahead of him. Sadly, this has made her see that my home is not the best home for Tanner. Tanner will thrive in a home that is quiet without a ton of people coming in and out and without getting tons of deliveries, She feels there is someone out there that is looking for companionship, and Tanner is the best dog for this. Tanner is a 3-1/2 year old Rhodesian/hound mix and weighs 60lbs. He is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped. Tanner is house trained and promises not to be destructive so he doesn’t require a crate when you are away. Tanner needs a home with a fenced yard as he loves to go for walks, but he will not potty on a leash. Gina has a dog door and he absolutely thrives. Tanner is truly a sweet boy who is looking for a peaceful place to call his own. Tanner is an anxious dog and he takes Prozac and Xanax. Gina fees that in the right environment, he may not require this medication. Tanner is dog friendly, but he likes to have his person all to himself so she would like him to be the only dog in the home and this will help him to bonds to his owner. He is the most loving and sweet boy and wants to be right with his person all the time so you’ll need to be ok with him snuggled next to you on the couch and in the bed. This is how he bonds with people. Since the accident, Gina has seen Tanner in a different environment, one that is quiet (she fostered many dogs and has 3 dogs of her own) and he LOVES a quiet environment. He is THRIVING! With no kids running around, no teenagers hanging out on the weekend, no daily FedEx deliveries. He absolutely needs a calm environment. She has noticed that he needs less medication at her mom’s and she hopes that a quiet home will allow him to need less and less. Tanner doesn’t mind if you leave for church or bingo or getting groceries but would do best if there aren’t a lot of visitors or deliveries in the home. He does not love FedEx. The rescue is willing to place Tanner as a permanent foster in the right home which means the Rescue would cover all vet care, preventatives, medication and food. If you feel like you can be his special person please go to our website at rescuedogsdream.com and complete an application. Background check and reference checks will be completed prior to meeting. Tanner is located in Citrus County, Florida
