She's an energetic, playful companion who loves the company of other dogs. Her playful nature is infectious, spreading joy to everyone around her. However, Dixie prefers the company of larger companions and would do best in a home without cats or small children. She's an intelligent, trainable dog who would thrive with an owner willing to invest time in her. Dixie's vibrant personality and love for play make her a wonderful potential addition to a family. She's waiting for a home where she can share her boundless love and enthusiasm.   Dixie is spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. Story
Meekah is an almost 4 year old full bred Rottweiler. I have had her since 8 weeks old. She came from an ethical breeder that had the parents health tested with ofa as I do not support back yard breeders. She is an amazing dog that just loves to sit and chill with people and sleep in your bed lol. She was raised with 2 boxers. Our 8 year old boxer had to be put down last fall due to lymphoma. Since then she has fought with our other boxer. With talking to professional trainers they say that this can happen as the dynamics of their pack changed. I also own my own small boarding facility on our property so I can’t take the chance of her getting aggressive with a dog in my care. She is absolutely amazing with people and does great at the vet! Loves to ride in the car also and take walks. Looking for the perfect home as she is my baby.

Story
Bee is a big baby that loves cuddles and spending time together. Love going walks. It’s gonna be hard to see her go as I’ve had her since she was a baby. She’s 5 now. But with the current living conditions and I am about to get married and I just won’t be able to keep her. She is house trained and I have never had her in a crate because never felt like I had a need to as she has never been destructive. She is very hit or miss with cats some she is fine others she is not but in my honest opinion I would never trust her alone with them if you have any questions please do not be afraid to ask.

Story
Say hello to Bowser, the friendliest 1yr old Rottie/Lab Mix you'll ever meet! This lovable lug is crate trained, potty trained, and has a flair for the dramatic – aka running around like crazy. But when he's not burning off energy, he loves to snuggle with his stuffies, give hugs, and be a lap dog extraordinaire. Bones and chew toys are the icing on his cake! He can't wait to go home with you! If you are viewing this pet's profile on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet,.please use the application link at the bottom of the profile to apply. Clicking the "Ask About" button does not submit an application. It only submits a question which will delay an application submission.    All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative (age 7 months and older) and microchipped. We do not ship or transport. A dog's adoption donation is $200. There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an online application here: www.heartlandsmallanimalrescue.org/canine-application.html ##2319182##

Story
Willow is a dog that we acquired from a family member. Willow was living with a homeless lady in a car with 3 other dogs when my family member took her in. We have an older dog and were hoping they would make a great pair. Our older dog is smaller and doesn't get along with Willow's puppy energy. Our older dog has actually declined in health because of our house guest. Willow is the sweetest dog and just wants to be around people. She is constantly seeking affection and looking for someone to play with or sit next to. She is quite the agility dog and can run for days. She can jump to impressive heights. She loves to cuddle and does really well with our children (6 months, 5 years, 15 years). She is fully house trained and spends time in her crate during the day without issues. She is easily trainable. We wanted to be able to keep her but she needs someone with more time to devote to her.

Story
Name: Jango Breed Guess: Doberman/Shepherd Mix Age: 4 years old Gender: Neutered Male Weight: Approximately 60 pounds Children: 16+ Cats: No Dogs: Meet and Greet Required Requires a Fenced in Yard: Yes! Adoption fee: $300 Hi, I'm Jango! I'm a sweet and affectionate boy who loves to give hugs and be close to my people. I'm also pretty smart - I know sit, lay down, stay and wait, and I even help put my own collar on! I'm leashed trained and will sit by the door when I need to go outside. My favorite things to do are playing tug-of-war, fetching my toys, and running around to burn off some energy. I'd do best in a home with adults who are ready for a fun & active dog who is ready to learn and please. I've been at the ARP since 3/8/25 and am currently at the shelter. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
