They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Ava is a spunky, energetic puppy who loves to zoom around the yard, play with toys and other dogs, go for walks, and chew on bones. Once she's burned off energy, she'll snuggle next to you on the couch and maybe give you a few puppy kisses! Ava is great at learning tricks as she is very food-motivated. He is a smart, active boy that thrives when his mind and body are occupied. As with all puppies and teens, he would do best with a family that can provide lots of quality time, walks, good supervision and guidance, and plenty of chew toys! Sparkles came into rescue with her littermates (b. Nov 2023) and they were all battling the deadly Parvovirus.  She has recovered and is now healthy!!  She is a Rottweiler/Pitbull Mix and such a sweet girl with a bright disposition.  She is smart and athletic with an abundance of energy.  Sparkles is a little shy in new or unfamiliar surroundings, but before long, she is all wiggles and wags.  She LOVES to snuggle!  She gets along with other dogs and with kids.  She would do well with an active family and other pets since she doesn't like being alone. The suggested adoption donation for Sparkles is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavi/oral problems (not obedience training).
