Story
T Rex wags his tail. He wags his tail when he sees you. He wags his tail when he greets you. He wags his tail when you talk to him. He wags his tail even when you look at him. A tail wag literally saved his life. When his owner passed away, his family, unaware of rescue resources, brought him to the vet to be euthanized. He looked at the vet and wagged his tail. They fell in love with him instantly and called our rescue, which specializes in assisting terminally ill people with finding homes for their pets, to see if we could help him. Thankfully, we were able to work with his original family to get him into our rescue and into a foster home. T Rex is such a loving, gentle guy - all he wants in life is to be pet and to go on walks (don't let his age of 14 scare you away - he has spunk and has spurts of running when he goes for walks) and to be loved. He would love to sit by his person on the couch. He would love to be by his person's side on walks and he would love to sleep in bed with his person. He needs an owner willing and capable of taking him for daily walks, for his health and for his mental well-being. He loves miniature tennis balls which are perfectly sized for his 15-pound self - he knows how to fetch but isn't always great about the dropping the ball to throw again. We don't care because it makes him happy! He also enjoys tiny stuffed dog toys and has a little stuffed beaver that he likes the best. He has lived successfully with cats and other dogs. He is afraid of cats, and we think he would like to play with another small, gentle dog. He does have arthritis so has learned to take stairs up to the couch and would need stairs up to the bed. He is a healthy 14-year-old dog who was recently neutered. He is current on vaccinations, had full senior bloodwork, and is microchipped. A future adopter should consider monthly Librela injections to help ease arthritis pains, and he may need a dental cleaning in the future as well. For more information about him, please email tysonsplacerescue@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application available here: https://tysonsplacerescue.org/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt

Story
My name is Dash and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m 1 y.o. and weigh 19 lbs. My must haves: a quiet home with another nice dog to help show me the ropes. No little kids please (they scare me!). I came to my foster home here in Montague, MI, from a commercial breeding facility that was shutting down. It was not a very nice place, but it was the only place I knew. So this new world - living in a home with humans - is scary to me. I’m a shy boy, so it takes time for me to trust humans. I like cuddling on the sofa with my foster mom and I enjoy it when she pets me, but most other people scare me (especially men). But I get along great with the other dogs here. I love to play-fight with my little foster fur-sister and the dogs really help me feel safe when we go for leash walks outside. Loud noises spook me – like garbage trucks. There is such good food here! Foster mom says being food-motivated will help with training in my new home. I also love chewing things. I can tear a tennis ball to pieces! You’ll need to take care that I don’t chew something that you want to keep (um… like remote controllers). There are teenagers here in my foster home and I am getting used to them. I haven’t met any cats or other small pets yet. While I like most things about this new life, I am learning that I’m not a fan of baths or being left alone. I am crated at night and when the humans aren’t home to keep an eye on me. If I haven’t had enough exercise and I’m antsy, I may howl in my crate to let you know that I’m not happy there. I am a healthy boy – neutered and vaccinated. But I was born with a loose kneecap on my rear right leg. The vet says that I may need surgery in the future to correct it. My perfect forever family will be patient with me as I learn to trust. Experience with fearful/shy dogs is preferred, especially caution around open doors and gates to prevent escapes. If you live in the Midwest and are interested in a handsome boy like me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will connect you with my foster mom so we can meet!
