Let me introduce you to Eddie, an interesting mixture of possibly Sharpei/lab/pit that arrived as a stray at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/29. Though he is not one of our longer-term residents, he would still be thrilled to leave the confines of his kennel and get settled into his dream home. He weighs 66 pounds, is about 2 years old and is neutered. One of our volunteers described him as a big love bug, a sweet, affectionate, happy, tail-wagging fellow. He's got a lot of personality! He loves toys and during his eval he was accumulating them from our toybox and playing with them. Eddie likes treats, will sit for them and takes them nicely. He does jump on you occasionally but not excessively. He's a happy-go-lucky fellow that is amiable and fun-loving. There's a lot to like about Eddie. He walks ok on a leash, but does have a strong pull. He may be house trained as he pottied in the yard. He would undoubtedly enjoy walks or perhaps become a good running buddy. He will need some good decompression time and separation from other family pets in order to acclimate. This is something every dog should be given. Oh, and high on the priority list of his dream home, he would like to be an integral part of the family circle. Living as an outside dog is not the dream home for any dog.

Max has never had a belly rub he didn’t like! He also enjoys lounging in the sun, gently playing with his stuffies, and daily walks (but isn’t interested in being anyone’s running buddy- we feel ya Max!) Car rides are his favorite- especially when he gets to ride shotgun! Max has a silly personality that really shines once you get to know him! While Max takes correction well, he’ll require an adopter who will let him know he’s not the boss. Give him an inch, and he’ll take a foot ( can you blame him though?!) Max is extremely food motivated and will never turned down a meal or treat. He will even dance for his dinner! He is currently being fostered by a family with two female resident dogs, a cat (who he loves and secretly has a crush on), and two older kiddos (8 and 12 years old). Since tiny humans can be super unpredictable, we recommend older kids for Max. A meet-and -greet is required if you already have pups – Max loves all the attention! Meet Bubs! This sweet boy is about 2-years old and weighs in at around 44 pounds. He is THE sweetest guy with so much love to give! Bubs enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home (don’t know how he is with cats), and he picks up routines quickly! He already knows how to sit and is house-trained. Meet Lacy! She is an approximately 10 year old, female, Boxer mix. She was found on 05/30/2024 on Austin Corners in Rockwall County and brought to the shelter on 06/04/2024. She is now looking for her furr ever home! She is a sweet gal who is ready to settle down and enjoy her golden years. She loves to love and enjoys long naps. She enjoys long walks and is peanut butter's number one fan! She has made several friends since her arrival but a meet and greet is encouraged if you have another dog in the home. Lacy's adoption fee is $125. She is spayed, microchipped, current on her rabies vaccination, basic boosters, and is heartworm negative! All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm.
