Story
From Rags to riches!!! This is Rags short for Ragamuffin and also answers to Rag Tag. This senior is believed to be a Yorkie Poodle mix, approximately 9 years old, and a tiny little 11 pound guy. He likes car rides and he LOVES playing fetch! He is a professional fetch player; he is up for fetch 24/7!! Rags speaks and turns in little circles when he’s happy or excited. He likes to be near his people whether lounging on the couch or snuggling in bed. If you are not a fan of doggie kisses, then Rags just might be your guy, as Rags knows how to hold his licker! Don’t be fooled by Rag’s sweet face, because this little dog can pack a lot of attitude. Rag’s triggers include being nippy when things are not going his way, such as going into his crate “at an off schedule time.” We are currently working on that with treats, praise and reassurance. Rags is also a sharp dressed guy, but his mood tolerance level varies whether or not he’s willing to have clothes coming off or being put on. Lastly, He is finicky about being picked up. Sometimes he’s absolutely fine with it, most of the time he grumbles (low passive growl), other times he becomes fearful and defensive. Despite all his quirks, Rags coexists well with other animals including dogs and cats, but he does not engage with them actively. He is potty trained for the most part, although he is still working on perfecting the art. On the plus side if he needs a bath, he is surprisingly cooperative. Dare we say he LIKES getting a bath? We think it’s all the massages and attention he gets while in there that he simply can’t refuse. Because even though he’s kinda funny about his space, he really does love receiving loving pets and scratches on his head, back, chin and even tummy. Just to be on the safe side Rags would probably do his best in a home without small children due to his temperament. If you are wiling to work with Rags and open your hearts to his quirky ways, please put in your application at www.pawpatroldayton.com/adopt. His adoption fee is $260. He is vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped and neutered.. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

Story
Meet the one and only Crosby! Crosby is an adorable little 15 pound poodle mix of some sort that has had a rough start in life. He is looking for a home where he can bloom into the doggy he was always meant to be. Crosby came from a breeding farm where he was never shown what love was. Because of this, Crosby is still learning what it is like to feel safe and loved. Crosby absolutely loves other dogs and he comes alive when he can be his goofy, playful self with them. Because of this and the fact that Crosby is still learning how to be a pet, another playful and friendly dog will be required in his new home. In fact, he would do fantastic in a pack. We have no idea how he is with cats. Crosby is so very timid and will stay in his crate most of the day unless he is encouraged to join in with other activities. He will need a kind and patient, yet confident owner to show him life isn't so bad outside his crate. Crosby has had very few accidents in his foster home and loves to go outside. Sometimes it takes him a little space to come back in, but he always does. This sweet 1ish year old puppy loves food and will take treats all day long. So far, he has only chewed on what belongs to him. He will pick up toys and run and play with them with dog friends or by himself. Crosby likes his crate when there is any type of people chaos, but he is quiet and does well in his safe space. Crosby hardly has any leash skills and is a flight risk. He must be carried to the car when going to the groomer or vet. His home must also have a secure physical fence to make sure he stays safe. We feel that in time, Crosby will enjoy people friends as he does doggie friends. It is just going to take some time. He is curious about humans and loves to sniff and boop them when they are not paying any attention to him. Crosby has never been snappy or aggressive in any manner, but his people need to go slow with him as to not spook him. Crosby is a little bit of a fixer-upper, but is going to certainly be worth the effort. If you would be interested in adopting Crosby, you may apply for him at www.pawpatroldayton.com/adopt. His adoption fee is 310 and he is vaccinated, neutered, heartworm tested negative, and microchipped. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.
