Story
Happy go lucky Lux is a sweet, cuddly, playful, 2.5 year old rottweiler/terrier mix with moderate energy levels. He's 54 lbs and looks like a mini chocolate lab. He wants to be your one and only and would do best with children who are calmer/respect boundaries so we recommend 12+. He is shy at first but fiercely loyal and so loving once he feels safe. He will make the best companion for someone who is kind, loving, and consistent. He would love an active family as he is always up for an adventure but also is fine with a 30 minute walk/day. He loves walks, car rides, and playing keep away with his ball, he would rather you chase him while he runs away than drop it for you! He's a silly and funny guy who always brings a smile to my face. I crate him while I'm away as he's still learning some of the do's and don'ts of home life. He is fully house/crate trained(no accidents or marking inside) but sometimes rubber shoes appeal to him. To be fair, a lot of his toys are rubber so who can blame him? He is not a hard or unruly dog, he just hasn't had the best luck and is often overlooked. He is 100x better and easier than a puppy but still needs a few reminders here and there. He occasionally jumps up on the counter or me when excited but listens well to the "off" command. He is just happy and curious pup but can be timid at times since he was in boarding over a year without much attention, training, or life experiences. He is currently taking one anxiety pill a day to help him feel his best while adjusting to life outside of the kennels. He is great on leash, doesn't lunge, bark, or pull to get to other dogs and just casually observes them during our walks. He is very quiet in the home and only barks when he hears something outside near the home. His bark is low and masculine and not high pitched. If someone approaches us on a walk he doesn’t bark but has a little stranger danger and is cautious of them. If it's a friend of yours, I just bring treats and have my friend give him a treat and he's fine. He likes to protect me while I'm in the bathroom and often stands guard, which is pretty cute and sweet. He's protective, loyal, loving, and playful, but also knows how to just hang out and enjoy down time and cuddles. Lux is available for adoption or you can apply to foster to adopt him to see if he's the right fit for you. He has been professionally trained and comes with three free training/refresher sessions. All fosters are supplied with everything they need: crates, food, bowls, toys, and medical coverage. Fostering to adopt is a great and inexpensive way to see if this could be the right dog for you. It's also so rewarding to help a dog in need by giving them a temporary home to lay their head at night until their forever family comes along. When our SAAP dogs aren't in a foster home, they are kept with our boarding partners, which is very stressful and they get limited attention, exercise, and love. For a no obligation meet and greet or to adopt or apply to foster to adopt Lux (everything is covered while you foster) apply online at https://www.adoptastray.com/foster-application orhttps://www.adoptastray.com/dog-adoption- He is so loving and deserving of a home and will be such a wonderful companion for the right person/family.
