I was found as a stray in the Wellsville area and I was brought into the pound. The pound employees were able to find out that I had belonged to someone that had been incarcerated and I was supposed to be being watched by someone in the area in which I was found. They also found out my approximate age and was told that one of my parents is a Husky/ Shepherd mix and the other is an XL American Bully. I was never claimed, so I am now looking for a new family to love and entertain. I am a very sweet boy and I am very smart, but it is clean that nobody had ever been consistent with my training or made me mind my manners. I think I've mastered the art of escape and I'll slip past ya every chance I'm given. I will do wonderful with a family that will: 1- give me enough exercise and physical stimulation 2- Give me structure and consistent training and 3- not get frustrated and give up on me. I know I'm a lot, but underneath all of my shenanigans, there is a really wonderful dog trying to shine through and I just need some help finding him. I have been a pretty good boy here at the pound overall. I do a fairly decent job with keeping my kennel clean, though I may need some work. Crate training (in a heavy duty crate) is also HIGHLY recommended to help keep me and your things safe while you're away. I have shown signs of separation anxiety here at the pound varying from vocalizing to straight up trying to chew my way out of my kennel (it didn't work out for me btw... my kennel door didn't even budge)... again, I will need patience and training. I have been fine around the other dogs I've met here at the pound. I do kind of come on strong and can be a bit obnoxious, so if they're not tolerant, it could create an issue, but if they don't mind, we would probably get along just fine. I would do great with another young, energetic dog that I can run and play with. If you're a patient human looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! MaRishka... MaRishka came into the rescue while she was still in the womb of her mama, Mama-ishka! A good samaritan reached out to us to help Mama. She was a regular stray in the neighborhood especially after her owners up and left her behind. They moved and didn't bother to take her with them. MaRishka is the only gray pup of her litter. She is adorable, sweet, and loves to give kisses. She is at times quiet within the five puppies in her litter. She will sit back and watch everything around her. She is a smart girl! Of the four girls pups, she is the biggest one. MaRishka has taken to learning her puppy lessons from her mama very well. Mama-ishka has taught the kids that you don't pee/poo in your bed area nor near your food. Manishka is being kennel trained. She falls asleep by 10pm and wakes up bright and happy at 7:30am. She is also being potty trained. She will wake up and quickly make her way to the backyard door. She will even wake up from her naps and cry out to let us know she has to pee. She is a FAST learner! But, considering her very young age she will need continued training to help her be the best pup that she can be. She's at the perfect age to introduce into any home! This little girl is also a HUGE LOVE BUG!!! She does love to be petted, held, cuddled, etc. She will happily look at you with her big GORGEOUS BLUE eyes and give you a big wet kiss! Lilly Polar Bear looks like ....well, a little Polar Bear! Such a HUGE surprise to see this little white furry baby pop out and be the only white Husky of her litter. She is also so sweet natured and adventurous. She is always ready for a naps and belly rubs. Right before we try to pick her up from her kennel so that she can go outside, she ALWAYS rolls over and lays there for belly rubs. She always makes us laugh! Lilly Polar Bear came into the A.M.O.R. rescue while still in the womb of hher Siberian Husky momma! Her momma was an owner surrender in another rescue and was adopted. But then it was realized that momma was pregnant. And was two weeks away from giving birth. Momma's adopter patiently waited for 9weeks until the babies were ready and weaned from momma. Lilly Polar Bear is fast, cute, cuddly, smart, sweet and loving....EVERYTHING you love in a puppy! She is also learning the word NO. She understands that some things are a NO NO. Most of the time, she enjoys having her food and playing a bit with her litter siblings. She also enjoys jumping in the kiddie pool and going for a little swim. After a little swim, she jumps out and shakes off the water and enjoys a little sun bathing. She is also learning all about naps and being kenneled and potty training. She is learning that there is a schedule to the day. Wake up, and go pee and poo outside at 7:30am. Then it is play time. Then eat some breakfast kibble. Then we poop again. Then it is more play time. Back inside for a nap by 9am. Then it is outside again at 11:30am for a pee/poo/play. A small snack at that time is had. And back in kennel for another nap at 1:30pm. Up and outside again at 4pm for pee/poo/play. Kibble Dinner is at 5:30pm. Lots of hard puppy playing happens from 4-6:30pm. The last nap of day happens from 6:30-8pm. And then the last pee/poo/play break happens from 8:00-9:30pm. Bedtime is by 10pm. Lilly Polar Bear sleeps the whole night through and no longer makes a mess in her kennel. If she ever needs to potty while in her kennel, she will go to one side and sleep on the other side. She has buried in her potty pad. She is still learning that we do not pee/poo where we sleep. But, she is getting there!!! But, as a puppy, she will still need training in this aspect for the first year of his life. Lilly Polar Bear is certainly ready to be in her own home.
