Story
My name is Auburn and I’m looking for my forever home! I am 6 years old and I am being fostered near Minneapolis, MN. I’m looking for a quiet, calm home – preferably one with a securely fenced yard where I can run. I love to run! I came to SIRA from a commercial breeding facility and I’m still getting used to living in a home with humans. There are so many strange noises and things to experience. I’m still a bit skittish, shy and cautious, but as I get to know you, I’ll want to follow you around to see what you’re doing and be near you. I love affection and once I trust you, I’ll ask you to scritch my head and pet me because it feels so good! I’m an early riser and I wake up ready to go! I love to run around in the fenced yard, and I’ve learned how to walk on a leash too. Quiet streets and trails are my favorite - I get scared of traffic, noises and unfamiliar humans or dogs. I’m a smart cookie and learn new routines and schedules quickly. I’m pretty much totally house-trained, but I’ll need to be watched around rugs and carpets. I’m not fond of being confined in a crate. I’m a sweet girl – foster mom says I don’t have an aggressive bone in my body. I love chewing on things, so it will be good to have appropriate chew toys for me. I get along well with the resident dogs in my foster home. I’m okay with kids and with cats, though little kids might scare me if they make sudden movements or loud noises. I haven’t shown any prey-drive that lots of Shibas have. I like watching the swans in the backyard, but I have never barked at them or tried to chase them. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated and I weigh 18 pounds. Sometimes my eyes water and make tear stains on my face, but the vet says that this is no cause for concern. If you live in the Midwest and would love to have a quiet, sweet friend to be your shadow, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more information and to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you and your home so they can make sure that we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxPlease read the full bio! We want to find the perfect match for Jennie! Jennie came from a puppy mill environment where she was not provided much chance at socialization or care. While she has come a long way she will do best in a home with some knowledge of this type of background and trauma these dogs have. While Jennie may never become a cuddle bug or lap dog she shows great potential for growth and improvement with the right kind of love and attention.  Potential adopters should be willing to invest time in building a strong bond with Jennie. A gradual introduction to new experiences and people, along with positive reinforcement.  An ideal home for Jennie would look like: *Having a confident dog in her new home would be a great benefit to her as she can learn from them to trust the humans around her.  *A person who is home more often than not with a low to moderate activity and noise level in the home and a consistent routine. *Jennie would not do well in a home with small children. Older teens and adults only. **   *Jennie will somestime bark at the neighbors kids through the chain link fence.  She does not bark at any noises through the solid fences though. We are working on fixing this. She doesn't bark in any other situations, just at that one chain link fence.   *Jennie loves small stuffed animals, plastic based toys, chewing on sticks, and ice cubes. She does not play fetch yet.   * She's making great progress with her socialization: • she goes up and sniffs strangers hands and accepts treats with no problem.  • She lets 5 people pet her now, 2 who don't live in the house.  • Still amazing with dogs of *all* sizes. • DEMANDS pets from her two favorite people. • Will sit on the couch with you, if there's a dog bed on it, for about an hour. • will not sleep in someone's bed.  • is an absolute joy to wake up and come home to. She's so excited to see you & wants pets for several minutes. A fenced in yard is required If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks.   Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
Frankie LOVES people and will make an amazing best friend. He really likes to play fetch with a tennis ball, toy, stick, or whatever someone wants to throw for him. Frankie also enjoys splashing around at the lake. He grew up with lots of children so he's very used to kids too. He's doing great walking on leash with a harness but also does well offleash on acreage. Frankie is 11 months old and weighs 32 pounds. He would love a fenced yard for playtime and someone home a lot to spend time with him. Frankie is doing well at housetraining. He even thinks he's a lap dog. His adoption fee is $375 to help cover some of his vetting costs(vaccinations, exam, heartworm testing, neuter, microchip, deworming, heartgard and frontline).
