Story
HIGHLIGHTS:Must have a fenced-in yard 4' or higherMust have another dog (small/medium sized) to help with confidenceNeeds an adult only home#### Quincy is a wonderful 1.5 year old, 13 pound Miniature Poodle who was rescued from a breeding facility, now finding solace at National Mill Dog Rescue and is eagerly awaiting a loving forever home. Although a bit shy, Quincy diligently works with the staff and volunteers to build courage and socialize. He is very food-motivated and has made human friends here at NMDR. Although Quincy is still working on trusting people. He loves to sit or lay down near them. He especially loves treats and will crawl into your lap for some. One of his favorite treats is peanut butter.Quincy is slowly working up his confidence with leashes. He's still a bit weary of them but the sight of them doesn't stop him from getting his treats. He does best with a buddy dog to show him the ropes, he does great following a fellow kennel mate on leash. Because he does not yet walk on leash, a secure fenced-in yard is a must. He also needs another dog in the home to teach him how to dog, and we'd prefer that any human siblings are at least 14 years old because Quincy gets startled easily. * * * *Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Because some of our dogs are very under socialized, they may not be a good fit for young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Some of our more fearful dogs will do best in a home with another dog and a securely fenced yard. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
