Story
Breed: Shih Tzu X DOB: 11/2022 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: small Color(s): white/tan/black Description: Hi, I'm Jethro, an outgoing Shih-Tzu X in need of a new home. I was bought as a present to keep my owner company, but they didn't seem to take into account my owner's age and my energy level. Although she loves me, I need more attention and playtime than she is able to give me. I'm very active, good with other dogs, love to play catch and love playing with her grandson. It's unknown how I would do with cats. I'm not quite house trained. I try to let you know when I have to go out, but I still have accidents on occasion. I could use some leash training. I'm a bit scared of fireworks, so I'll need some comforting on New Year's and the Fourth of July. If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an online application.August 19, 2024, 7:36 pm

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING…thank you! MEET KAI! A 3-4 yr old, tan/white, 15 lb, adorable, Shih Tzu, who came from the streets of San Bernardino with no history. By the time he came to us, he had developed more anxiety and fear. We found a trainer who helped get him through most of his issues. However, she never addressed obedience or “leadership behavior” so he can still be reactive to some dogs especially on walks. We FINALLY found a behaviorist who is teaching his foster how to teach Kai to respect her…AND IT’S WORKING! Leader not lover — until alpha is established. Kai is a smart dog who does his best with regular exercise and dedicated attention — and he needs a patient, experienced home that will give him time to acclimate. Insufficient physical activity can lead to heightened anxiety, so he needs an active home that will engage him. Kai gets super excited when you come home or it’s feeding time! He is a foodie and is very motivated by treats! He’s a great dog, just needs leadership. Kai is OK interacting with calm dogs and is very friendly with people and children once introduced. Encounters with dogs on the street requires ongoing reinforcement, as he becomes overly excited and will dart toward them. However, once allowed to familiarize himself, sniff and settle, he doesn’t pay much attention to them. While we don’t always recommend crates, some dogs consider them a “safe cave,” especially if that is how they are trained. Initially, Kai had barking issues, which have definitely settled. That being said, he should be in a home where his person is around a lot and there are no other dogs. Kai’s favorite and never changing thing is to collect squeaky toys! He’s like a puppy at times, teething on your hands/fingers. BUT he can be moody. His guarding issues with toys has dissipated (people and dogs) for the most part, but not with food. Take it slow and watch his body language. He’ll let you know. If you hear a growl, back off! An active home, POSSIBLY with another small, calm but playful pup and a firm yet gentle guidance, patience, and ample acclimation time has proven to be the ticket for Kai. Could this be your next family member? He’s available now (to the right home!) PLEASE DON’T APPLY IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE. KAI IS A WONDERFUL DOG BUT HE NEEDS PARAMETERS AND DISCIPLINE! He just needs to respect you and if you set it up this way, it will be this way! He does come with a session by the behaviorist which LHH will pay for. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION THIS IS HAMISH…or as he is known to his friends, “Hammy" or "Boo!” This 4 yr old, 13 lb, cream/tan, Shih Tzu, is absolutely adorable! We especially like the pink around his eyes…gives him a lot of character. He came to us from the Lancaster Shelter with a bad case of kennel cough and quite skinny…he still needs to gain a few pounds, but he recovered and is a happy, silly boy! We don’t know his back story, but we are of the opinion he was loved and ended up in the shelter through no fault of his own. He is active and playful…chases after toys…gives lots of kisses to those he wants to impress (!!) and has a wonderful temperament. His coat is soft, soft, soft…and he doesn’t seem to have any issues that we can find! He does have good energy and should get out and be walked. He does the cutest little dance when it’s time to do his “business” so you always know! We believe the best home for him will have another playful dog and/or a family with kids and lots of attention. Hammy is great in the car and listens to what he is told! Not sure if he really obeys commands yet, but his temperament is gentle and happy. Does he sound like a pup you could love for the rest of his life? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Breed: Japanese Chin DOB: 8/20/2010 Gender: female Altered: no Coat: medium Size: small Color(s): black/white Description Hi, I'm Cutie Potootie, a sweet Japanese Chin in need of a new home with my 'sister' Joy as sadly our owner has passed away. We've been together for many years, so we have to be adopted together. I'm outgoing and active. We get along with other dogs, cats and children, but would do best in an adult only home or a home with older children. We know basic commands and walk well on leash. We are crate and paper trained and know how to use a doggie door. If you have room in your heart and home for two lovable dogs, please fill out an online application to meet us.August 19, 2024, 7:36 pm
